fruit ideas

I need fruit ideas for my LO she is refusing purees...besides banana I don't know what else to give her...b/c all the fruit I can think of seems too hard...I was thinking I should cook an apple a little bit to soften and then cut up......she does like yogurt so that's about the only fruit she's getting now.....She also has zero teeth still :)

thanks!

Re: fruit ideas

  • Pears get soft when super ripe. Peaches, plums, mango, pineapple. Lucia loves kiwi. And we bought a big box of those seedless clemantines. I cut each slice into 4 or 5 pieces and she picks them up. Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries.

  • Fresh. We tried cooked apples, but they still don't seem to mush or fall apart well, so they make me too nervous.

  • Soft avocado!  It tastes great and is full of nutrition.  You just mash it up with a fork.  You can also mash it into her yogurt.  I also steam and then puree apples of all kinds and mix those into my LO's yogurt.  You can also do that with blueberries, pumpkin, sweet potato, pear, etc... When you puree the stuff, you can add back in the juice from steaming to make things as wet as you want so that the lumps come out.  Conversely, you can make the puree chunkier later on by not adding back any juice when she is ready for that.

  • Peach fruit cups, cut up grapes into about 6 small pieces, cut up melon, strawberries, etc. dS also refuses to be spoon fed. I cut practically everything up into pencil eraser sized cubes and he does great. I do one food at a time or he seems to get overwhelmed by a lot on his tray. He will let me hand feed him too just a thought if you haven't tried.
  • Avocado, mango, pear, and melon are some of ds's favorites.

  • I give DD thinly sliced apples and she does great even with the peal.  Same with strawberries.. cut thin.  She does not do well with blueberries but bananas are good along with peaches.
