Overnight diapers...again

So we have been using Pampers Baby Dry size 4 at night for several months, but just recently they have started leaking at night.  He is only 20 lbs and they are for 22-28 lbs, so I don't see going up a size would really be the right choice.

Does anyone use the Huggies overnights?  Do they work? Do you buy the next size up or do you buy the size the weight corresponds to?  L has never worn Huggies so I don't know where to start....FWIW, he is cloth diapered during the day.

Re: Overnight diapers...again

  • We use huggies overnights in his regular pampers size. DS is 21 lbs and wears a size 4. 5s would be too big.

  • We love the Huggies Overnights! We use her regular size (which is sz 3, she is 18lbs)

  • We don't use overnights, but we do turn her diaper around backward at night and that stopped our leaks. Just a suggestion.

  • I use Huggies Overnights...and use the same size we use during the day.  I do, however, tend to move him up a size in overnights before I do for daytime diapers. Ian weighed 24lbs 8oz at his 9mo check up, he's in size 5 diapers and has been for a little while.  Size 5 says 27lbs and up.  I think the problem I have with Ian and diapers is that he has a long torso, so I tend to have to move him up, and be in a bigger size because they don't come up far enough.  As far as fitting in the weight category though, I think they may be a little on the smaller side, but pretty close to true to size.

This is why I had L in the size 4 Pampers early since he has a long torso.  I guess I will just try a size 4 in the Huggies and see how it works. We are getting ready to travel for 3 weeks so I would like to find something that doesn't have me having to change his sheets daily at my parents!

Mollysm....I have heard that before about turning the diaper around.  However, I wonder if it makes a difference between boys and girls?  All my friends who have done that have had girls...I might try that if over night diapers don't work!

  • We use size 3 cruisers during the day and size 4 baby dry at night. Seldom do we have a leak. We try not to put her to bed until she's peed after her last bottle. I stayed at a friend's after the hurricane and she had baby dry size 6 and I used them because I forgot ours at home so i just pulled it tighter and no leaks. I think you should go up the next size.

I never did that but it actually makes sense! She sleeps on her stomach so all the pee goes to the front. The back of the diaper prob has more coverage.

  • The back of the diaper goes so much higher, and she sleeps on her stomach, so it really seems to work. We use Pampers, and the few times we've used to Huggies we have leaks. I think because she's scrawny. The girls I work for, who are chunkier, have the opposite problem where Pampers don't really work. So we figure it's not worth buying the huggies overnights to try.

  • I've been using a disposable (up a size) with a double stuffed cloth diaper over top and he's STILL leaking through. Not just leaking, but soaked! I'm going to have to try this backward diaper business.
