Having trouble getting my DS to eat....

DS GI said that I could try juicing fruits and veggies and having him drink it. That way he still getting nutrition. I have struck out on what I have tried so far. He is going to therapy and they are going to work with him with eating as well as a lot of other sensory needs. Also building muscle. So I have a couple questions...

Does anyone one know of good juicing recipes?

Also therapist said thinks DS needs his tonsils out based on how he sleeps, slobber, and jaw being loose. Also not wanting to eat things he used to like. Has anyone heard of this?

Sorry it is so jumbled. Thanks for any advice.

Re: Having trouble getting my DS to eat....

  • I am with you on the tonsil thing. Ds actually has a sleep study scheduled for next week to see if he has obstructive sleep apnea based on his snoring and sleep patterns. If he does, they will advise if taking his tonsils out will help, or if it is bad enough to warrant a CPAP machine. What joy that would be!!!!

In our case we went for the sleep study 1st b/c taking his tonsils out would be a big deal - he wouldn't understand that pain which could lead to other issues.  His ENT & Dev Ped agree doing sleep study 1st is worth it. We just had to wait for CO medicaid to kick in before we could afford it!

He has no issues with eating, apart from stuffing, but has always been a big drooler.
