We're going on a road trip to Iowa in 10 days and will be gone for 8. DD decided today was the day to start packing for it. She's done this before and usually tosses random stuff in her little suitcase, but today she's made me proud!
7 short sleeved shirts
5 skirts
4 pairs of socks
1 pair of tights
7 pairs of underwear
1 baby blanket (for her doll)
She even put it in neatly. I hate to tell her we need to repack most of it. No short sleeved shirts in Iowa in December.

What a cutie! She did such a great job for a 5 year old - even better than my husband does ;-)
True that. I can't tell you how many times we would take a vacation and he would forget basic things, tee shirts, boxers, etc. Now, I make him show me everything he is taking, and add too it. He always wants to pack light, but ends up forgetting and we have to buy stuff anyways!

In the almost 10 years we've been married, DH has packed maybe 3 suitcases. Our first move was to China when we'd been married for 8 months and we could take 4 suitcases with us. I hated his method of packing so much I took over and we never looked back.
Sometimes he doesn't even pick out his own clothes--if he's busy at work that week I just pack whatever I like and he looks through it later (or not).
