Babies: 6 - 9 Months

going back to work

Dd is almost 9 months, and in march ill have to go back to work. Some days I think, I can handle it and others I freak out and get upset thinking she'll need me and it will be so upsetting for her to not have me there every day. She is being watched by MIL, but still. I'm a worry wort lately. What if she's in the playpen all day? What if she cries all day. Help!

Re: going back to work

  • Honestly, it'll be ok. Is your DD familiar with MIL? Maybe do some "practice" runs; leave her with MIL for a few hours while you go run errands so that they can both get accustomed to one another. There will be an adjustment but I think the one who will struggle most with this is you. And that's normal.

And if you're truly concerned that your MIL really will leave DD in the playpen all day and not actually interact with her, then maybe you need to reconsider your child care options.

  • A few suggestions would if you have already done so talk to mil with DH too about your likes an dislikes, LO's schedule and even have her wrote down when LO slept and ate and how much not because you don't trust her but because you want to know as much as you can about your LO's day.

This is a good idea. I just feel like that may insult her..so I'd have to think about delivery. Having DH there is a good option because the message may get accross better. I don't think she'll put her in the play pen all day, I mean dd will only stay in there so long anyway. So unless she wants a crying fussy baby she won't do it. I guess I'm more of a negative thing vs positive sometimes. Plus I'm in the mode of "only I know how to take care of her" she knows dd and vice versa but I will def do trials. I guess I'm just nervous. If I had her in daycare I'd be just as nervous but in a diff way.
