Increased nursing while KU?

I know we've had a couple babies who have self weaned when mama got KU again, but is it possible for them to do the opposite? DD has been nursing like a newborn the last 4 days or so and I'm in the 2WW. Not trying to get my hopes up, just curious. I tried to "Dr. Google" it and couldn't come up with anything... Hmm...

Re: Increased nursing while KU?

  • A woman's supply often goes down when they are KU so your LO might nurse more often to compensate -- some just go the easy root and drink or eat more from other sources (self weaning). My LO didn't change her pattern at all when I got pg while BFing. Either way - hoping it's a good sign for you!

  • DD wanted to nurse a bit more when I got pg.  Like Red said I think it was to compensate for a lack of milk.  She's evened out again now, and I've been able to cut out her after work session, which does wonders for me.

Fingers crossed for a BFP if that's what you're hoping for :)

Good to "see" you Red! How are you doing?

  • Oh God I hope so! Max has been a BOOB ADDICT lately, and I'm also in the 2ww. But I think he's just nursing his cold.

Hey there! How have you been? And how are you 34 weeks already?!

Duckieer, I never experienced the extra nursing (DD1 just kept on nursing as usual when I got pg with DD2, and DD2 abruptly self weaned when I got pg this time). The theory about your supply dropping and therefore LO wanting to nurse more makes sense. I hope you get your Christmas BFP :)
