My DD is down to 2 bottles/day. She has 1 first thing in the morning when she wakes up and one right before bed. I brush her teeth after her bottle before bed.
I know a lot of people have just gone cold turkey with no bottles at 12 months. If you did, or if your LO doesn't have a bottle first thing in the morning, what do you feed your LO in the morning and when?
The only reason DD still gets a bottle right after she wakes up in the morning is because she is HUNGRY. If I even try to change her diaper before feeding her, she freaks out. Should I bring her milk in a sippy cup in the morning instead? Or get her used to not eating immediately after waking and feed her solids?
Re: What do you feed your 12 month old (or close to that age) first thing in the morning?
I give her a bottle of milk at 430/5 am. She drinks between 6-8oz between then and 7am and eats cereal around 9 am. : )
My LO still gets 3-4 bottles a day... not because she cares, just because that's what we do. I didn't hear to stop bottles from the doctor yet, so idk.
It depends on what your goal is. If you want your DD to eat first thing in the morning, then I'd get used to having breakfast ready, or at least have some cheerios she can nibble on while you prepare hear morning meal. But if you don't mind her drinking first, then I'd just bring her a sippy with milk instead of a bottle.
ETA: I forgot to mention DS3 eats first when he wakes up, he eats the same thing the other kids do, pancakes, waffles, eggs, toast etc.

Journey Complete.
DD is 2.5yrs old - she STILL nurses first thing in the morning, even before we get out of bed.
I'd say, if she's hungry/thirsty, give her something. A sippy sounds fine if you're really concerned about stopping the bottle ASAP.
DD was still nursing around 5 am, then getting up at 7 or whenever and having milk and toast or something for breakfast.
I would try to break the habit of her 'needing' to eat as soon as she gets up. And/or offer her milk in a sippy.
ETA: you know what, come to think of it, when DD was 1 I usually fed her very soon after getting up. It's only now at 1.5 y+ that she can wait 1/2 - 1 hr to eat.
