DD got ear tubes in May after having 6 ear infections in a span of 4 or 5 months. I basically had a VIP seat at my pedi because I was there every other week or so. I also noticed an impact on her language development because of the hearing loss caused by the constant ear infections/fluid...still see delays in her language, although, she's finally starting to catch up. Happy to say that she hasn't been sick with an ear infection since May and she's had colds etc that would usually start one:)
So while I don't have any questions for you to ask, I figured i would share my experience. Ummmm....I guess ask his rules for ear plugs. Some ENTs say they don't need ear plugs for bath/swimming. My ENT wanted DD to use them until tubes came out. If he wants you to use them...earbandit putty buddies are the best things in the world! Hope all goes well. If you have any questions about our experience with it, I'd be happy to answer anything. Good luck to you and LO!
NO specific questions but I can tell you we had good results with the first set however DS ended up getting a second set and had his adenoid removed at the same time as a precaution and I wish we would have done it the first time around.
Ear tube surgery only last about 5-10 monies and LO will be back to normal within a couple hours.
DD had 7 ear infections in 2.5 months. We saw an ENT and scheduled the surgery for three days later. It was very simple, and we've been pleased with the results. DD's surgery was at 1 p.m., and she wasn't able to eat anything after 6 a.m., and that was difficult. If I had to do it again, I would ask for a morning appt.
