Am I the only one? Re: checking on sleeping baby

I check on DD a few times before I go to bed.  I will actually go in and put my hand on her to make sure she is breathing.  She sleeps in her crib now and it was so hard for me to move her there because I always would check on her often when she was in the bassinet beside the bed.

I feel so paranoid, but it relieves me to check on her.  We also use a baby monitor, but I still have to go in and look at her.

  • you should get one of those video monitors!

i do it, too.  actually, i know that if i touch dd's lip, she'll purse it, so i'm constantly walking up to her and lightly touching her lower lip to make sure she'll do that.

  • I check him a million times and always have to touch him or really stare to ensure he's breathing.
He spent one full night in his crib (with movement/breathing monitor) and he slept 8 hrs.. it was MY worst night of sleep yet. I kept thinking I need to go see if he is ok, is this monitor working, what if it came unplugged... why is he sleeping so long something isn't right. drove myself nuts and the little dear was just having a really awesome night of sleep. oh to be a new mom!

  • You should get an Angel Care monitor. ?It goes under the babies mattress and can sense the breathing. ?It gave DH and I great peace of mind and we know it works because DD is moving all around the crib and when she moves to the very top the alarm goes off.
  • DD is 4 months and I check on her constantly while she is sleeping. She sleeps in my room in the bassinet but on the weekends she sleeps in her crib.  I want her to get use to her crib but I don't trust the monitor so we sleep in her room with her  (there's a bed in there) .  I don't see me leaving her alone in her room anytime soon.
  • I always always check on him before I go to bed, and put a hand on him even though the consequences are dire if I wake him up!:)

  • You aren't the only one! I check DS several times after he goes to sleep to make sure he is covered and still breathing. Heck, DD is 3 and I still check on her too! I can't go to sleep until I know my babies are tucked in, safe and sound.
  • I check on my little girl several times.  I have an awesome monitor that picks up every little noise, but I still feel better just looking at her and checking myself.  She always does the Moro reflex when I touch her forehead, so that's my comfort.
  • If your monitor isn't a video monitor, you should get one. Seriously, it's wonderful.
