Stomach Virus

I had it three days ago, and now DH has it (currently puking in the bathroom). I REALLY hope DS doesn't get it. I BF, so I was hoping he was in the clear because of that, but now that DH is sick I am pretty worried. Anyone's DC ever deal with a 24 hour bug? DS got his flu shot.

Wash your hands and his hands a lot. Clorox wipe everything.

Yeah, Seth was throwing up and had diarrhea for about 24 hours (well, the diarrhea lasted a little longer, which is normal). I EBF, too (though I didn't get the bug, even though everyone else in the house did). He was tired and didn't eat great for a little bit but recovered quickly. He never seemed to sick. The pedi just said to feed him small amounts at a time and give him acidopholus for the diarrhea, and watch for dehydration.

I think so, too. If your DS does get sick, don't quit BFing!!!! Some people will tell you to only give him Pedialyte but breastmilk is MUCH better than Pedialyte-- it includes immunities, after all, and is specifically what their bodies are designed to have. There is more info about that on kellymom. They have a little section about vomiting/diarrhea and breastfeeding, if you need it.

DH had it last Friday-Sunday, I got it Saturday evening, and DD threw up for the first time Sunday night and had diarrhea. ?She just now had a "normal" bm tonight so it took her almost a week to get back to her old self again. ?The nurse at my pediatrician's office said it was going around and there really isn't anything you can do other than keep fluids in them making sure that they're having at least one wet diaper every 8 hours and let it run it's course. They too said acidophilus will help. ?We did the BRAT diet with DD as far as solids go as it helped us tremendously. ?I hope your little guy doesn't get it! ?

We all had it last weekend. Not gonna lie, it was AWFUL. The baby only puked once, but then he got awful diarrhea and was miserable. Cried everytime he pooped, which was constantly, and the liquid poop gave him the worst diaper rash of his life, which we are STILL dealing with a week later! I hope your little dude escapes it!

My ds got it just before Thanksgiving. We were on a plane to New Orleans and just after we landed, he puked all over me. Lovely, huh? Everyone on the plane just loved the smell of curdled milk. I thought it was motion sickness until he puked over 20 times during a 3-4 hour time period. Then the puking stopped and the diarrhea started. That lasted about 1 week.

My ds was very kind and shared his stomach virus with DH and me. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving running from the table to puke and fighting over who had to watch ds so the other person could go to the bathroom to puke.

It's not fun as the pp said, but ds was feeling much better after 24 hours. It just took a little longer for the diarrhea to go away. I also made the mistake of giving him milk (we switched to whole milk several months ago) too soon and he puked it up. If your EBF, you won't have that problem.

If it involves puking, def not airborne. From germs spread from hand to mouth or via fecal oral route. Wash hands any time you eat, drink, pee, etc. Clorox/Lysol everything (but it must sit for at least 10 min on a surface wet before wiping it up). Even disinfect your toothbrushes and kitchen sponges (dishwasher on hot). GL!
