Thanks all for checking up on us! I just dropped him at DC and now am back at work. I stayed with him yesterday and kept a close eye for fever or further swelling/redness/pain in his foot. His foot looked 90% better when he woke up yesterday and I'd say the swelling was completely gone by lunch. He had a great day yesterday, running and skipping and jumping, no pain. :-)
So, the doctor this morning was too a bit baffled and chalked it up to some sort of contact irritation!? Granted C does have easy reactions to things that bother his skin, but it's usually hives, not large area swelling so I really don't know. He did say to keep an eye on it and continue to watch for fever.
As a side note though on the osteomyelitis that they were concerned about, the ER doc said while it was super-rare just five years ago, he diagnoses a case a week now in children! It is basically a staph or strep infection in the bone. So, one more thing for us to worry about, but I'm glad to know what to look for.
Thank you all for your T&Ps! I seriously love this board. :-)
Re: Update on C
I second this!
And if B ever gets a strange swelling, I'm going to take a picture and send it to you for a diagnosis

I hope he's 100% back to normal soon.
