Today I had to visit my midwife's back up doc for a fetal echocardiogram. My DD was born with a heart defect so this was a precautionary thing and baby looks great!
However, the doc and tech kept making a big deal about baby being breech! Seriously? This isn't my first rodeo. There is plenty of time for this baby to turn. The doc had a serious talk with me about the possibility of needing a c-section. He let me know I was welcome at his practice if I felt uncomfortable staying with my midwife. I am so hopping mad.

Hah. Laugh it off, because he's crazy. Another 10 weeks and you can start being concerned about a breech baby - and even then, I'd never schedule a c-section.
Then have a really long and serious talk about it with your midwife, since this is your backup doc. I'd be wondering why the MW chose him to partner with.
I called my mw as soon as I cooled off a bit. She was upset (but not surprised). I asked her why he would do such a thing and she replied: "you've got amazing insurance."
I try my best not to let my cynicism rule the day, but jerks like him make it hard. I have good insurance so of course I'm a great candidate for an, as of yet, unnecessary and dangerous procedure.
She told me he's her best option for a backup and she's required to have one to be able practice. The laws here are so screwy. She's a APRN, CNM that has been practicing for longer than dude has been a doctor! Attending a homebirth would have her banned from the only hospital willing to give CNMs privileges, and possibly cost her her practice.
Why must this be so difficult?!
This. I don't know whether to laugh at your MW's honesty or scream at the Dr's arrogance. He wants to cut you open bc your insurance would be a good payout. RIDICULOUS.
Where are you located?
It sounds like you have some "great" quotes for submitting to My OB Said What.
I'm in KY.
I'm with her! ^^^ I think he saw an in and tried to run with it. I hate when drs try that crap out early. Ugh.
