  • Sorry to hear you're sick. We've got the stomach virus over here, ugh.

DS is continuing to be our "easy" child. We're in the 4-month wakeful, distractible-baby stage, and he still can't hold a candle to my cranky toddler. This past week we've noticed him grasping his toys much more intentionally. It's so fun to see him look at a toy and purposely reach out to grab it. He's so proud of himself when he gets it.

GTKY: I like all of the old carols.

  • Milestones: he's 3 weeks old as of yesterday. He is now eating 3 ounces per feeding and sleeping 33.5 hours in between. Who would have thought getting 2 hours of sleep at a time would be great. I can't believe he's 3 weeks old already. I'm bittersweet about this.

GTKY: Little Drummer Boy is my favorite because it reminds me of my Grandma and baking cookies with her during the holidays.

Any challenges this week? Witching hour...enough said.... Milestones? At three weeks, L is taking 3oz. every 3-4 hours.  He finally got to do tummy time since his cord fell off.  He's not so thrilled with it so far. Big Smile  Funny stories? None that I can think of right now...we don't do anything too funny yet.

GTKY: What's your favorite holiday song? Bonus points for links! Favorite traditional Christmas song would have to be "O Holy Night" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQWXfHzOKUU

Favorite "modern" Christmas song would be "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oOzszFIBcE

Sorry you are not feeling well!

We had a challenging sleep week but it has gotten better the past few nights.  Miletones: DD met santa and didn't cry! Actually, she loved him.

Oh and she is sitting better and better and it is such a fun stage! She loves yogurt with banana too.

Favorite holiday song: hmmm...that's a hard one. I think it's "I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas".

Aw, how sweet that she loved Santa! I also shamelessly love that Christmas song.

Sorry your DD is cranky! My boss insists that I talk about DD as an "easy" child vs. a "good" child, so I like to see the language used elsewhere, too :)

  • Sorry you're sick Rusalka...we're battling a sinus thing here! Oh, I love this time of year...and working with kids ;]

Challenges...going back to work. And DH taking paternity leave. I love that he is home with G while I work, but I get frustrated because he can't do ANY housework while he's with LO. I am feeling like every spare second I have is spent rushing to do dishes or run a load of laundry. I think I might be a little crazy, because it's seriously driving me mad. Sorry, vent is over.

DD is now sucking her fist or fingers and playing with her hair :] I think it's soooo cute.

Gtky...I love Bing Crosby Christmas songs. Any old crooners really.

  • Sleep is our biggest challenge.  While she's actually improved during some naps, going longer than the normal 30 min to sleep sometimes 1 hr, it's night time that's horrible.  Last night was our worst night ever...she never slept longer than 30 min before she needed her pacifier. At 5am, I tried picking her up to lay down together in the guest bed, hoping we could all get more sleep and she woke WAY up.  Took 40 min of rocking to get her back asleep and then she continued to stir & need pacifier after 20-30 min. I'm at a complete loss at what to do because I don't know if it's her teeth or the 4 month wakeful.  I gave her baby orajel 2 nights ago and it only got mildly better.

Funny stories: She's getting so good at buzzing her lips that DH and I need spit shields.

    GTKY: Sleigh Ride.

  • Feel better Rulksa!

Challenges: Now that the year is almost over, DH and I are trying to decide what our plans for the coming year will be. Currently MIL watches DD durring the day, but she has bad arthritis in her wrist and it's been acting up lately. As DD gets heavier it gets harder for her to pick her up and care for her, so we're thinking that this isn't going to be a long term care option for us. I want to quit my job and be a SAHM, which would resolve the issue, but I'm unsure of when to do it. We need to move by next winter (our self made deadline) because DH has an hour and 15min commute to work every day and we want to shorten that up. In order to move, though, we need to fix up our house a bit and that takes money. All of our extra money comes from my paycheck and if I quit we ovbously won't have that any more. At the same time, I really love our house and don't really want to move, so I'm trying to come to terms with that. Home ownership is rough sometimes!

Milestones: DD started making N sounds like noo and nee the other day. I love that she's expanding her vocabulary from her normal ooos and ahs. I don't think she's too far off from Naa, which will surly turn into Nana, which will just send MIL over the moon. Lol I'm still hoping she'll figure out Mama first! She's also acting like she wants to crawl. If I have her sitting on my lap she'll launch herself forward in order to reach a toy, or puppy, or my water glass... Anything that catches her attention!

We've been doing bananas this week and I added a little too much water when I made the pur?e, so it's like banana soup. DD sips it off the spoon just like soup, too!

GTKY: My favorite holiday song is "White Christmas" sung by Bing Crosby. It just feels like Christmas when I hear that song.

  • Any challenges this week?  Alexa is getting over a nasty cold she has.  Oh it was miserable last week.  She was so congested that she kept choking on the mucus that kept draining into her throat.  poor baby.  She's still not completely over it but she's getting there.

Milestones? Well she found her feet and voice two weeks ago or so.

GTKY: What's your favorite holiday song? Bonus points for links!  I don't like the holidays and especially not the music.  I detest the music.

Sorry you guys aren't feeling well - hope it clears up soon :)

My challenge is also my milestone.  I had gained five pounds in water weight, but dropped it again in the same week.  I just needed to add more water, and fruit, and basically have DH hold DS more so I could eat something besides finger food - like a hot meal - so my body wouldn't cling to fat (DH is glad to comply, but DS is a Mama's boy and prefers Mama's boobs in his face ;P)

Also, though I still have just a bit of pelvic soreness, I haven't had to take ibuprofen or Tylenol in days! :D  I've been mainly focusing on just reconditioning because of the pain, versus actual exercise, but have also been scrubbing down the house (after months of neglect), and running errands for hours at a time.  So I'm definitely walking enough ;)  Now I'm looking forward to an actual exercise regime with weight loss focus.  So far though, I've dropped twenty pounds, so I'm quite content with that!

Also, fav. holiday songs?  All the classics, but especially "O Holy Night", "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas", "Hippopotamus for Christmas" and "Winter Wonderland" . . . really can't just have one, can you??

  • Sorry to hear you are not feeling well Rusalka, hope you all feel better soon!

Any challenges this week?  Still the 4 month wakeful, Saturday night was awful dd's longest stretch of sleep was 3 hours.  Thankfully the last two nights she has slept well, but every time I think it is over it seems to come back again.

Sunday was also a bad day for dd with spitting up like crazy, seriously it was just pouring out of her.  We go for her 4 month check up tomorrow, so I'm going to ask the pedi about possible reflux, I suspected it before and not sure if she does have it or not, but figure I want to make sure I discuss it with the pedi just in case.

Milestones?  Starting to laugh, like really have a nice long giggle, she laughed hysterically a few days ago while I was drying her off with a towel, it was so cute.  Also starting to grasp objects, before she would just kick the toys on her play mat, but now she is looking at them and grasping one toy at a time with her hands.

GTKY: What's your favorite holiday song? Bonus points for links!  Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and All I Want for Christmas is You.  I love so many Christmas songs though, but those are my absolute favorite.

  • So, I think this is my intro. My DD was born on Nov 28th and I'm just now getting back online...

Can't believe she is 2 weeks today! Seems like just yesterday we brought her home! I am trying to get in a good rhythm of BF and pumping, so as to build a stash and keep DD well nourished. She is already well past birth weight, which is a great sign.

Question: I updated my ticker code on my profile signature page, but it is not registering. Any helpful hints? Also, I would love to post photos of DD but am having a heck of a time trying to figure out how to do it using my iPad. So tech un-savvy am I!
