Is anyone here in Indiana? When BD and I divorced our divorce decree was very general as to visitation/parenting time and we now have a need to set a schedule in writing. I don't have the money to get a lawyer and I can't find any information online as to how to go about setting a schedule. Chiule support doesn't need to be changed, he's not paying anyway and I just filed papers at the clerk's office for non-payment. TIA!
Re: How to set visitation in Indiana?
Consider looking into state help for legal assistance. I know Texas has it. Get a lawyer to assist you. I understand it's difficult financially but seek assistance.
United Way I think assists with all kinds of things - maybe they can help you find a lawyer that is donating their time. Seek and you shall find.
Also, if he's not paying -you have legal grounds to not let him see the children until he does.
If all else fails - google it and come up with a legal sounding document that you think he'll agree to and sign. Even if it doesn't hold up in court, he might not be smart enough to know that and you can use it until you can afford a lawyer.
Make this a priority. Trust me. Get a lawyer at some point and get a legal agreement.
I speak from experience with my divorce, as well a H's past custody agreements. No legal agreement and legal counsel will cost you more in the long run.
Good luck
I'm in Indiana. I know parents have different guidelines in their divorce, but here is a general one I found online. My ex is suppose to take our kids two weeks in the summer but he never does. He just gets them every other weekend and one night a week for a couple of hours.
Maybe this will help.
