Pregnant after 35

Still nauseous at 13 weeks!

Hi everyone,

I am still nauseous at 13 weeks. I was told by almost everyone that the nausea would subside and I would start feeling better at 12 weeks. I am afraid I am going to end up being sick my entire pregnancy. This is debilitating!

Re: Still nauseous at 13 weeks!

  • Sorry to hear you're still feeling bad.  :(  You must have a bunch of lucky family/friends because in my group, I know more than one person whose nausea either took a while to go away, or never went away at all.  One gal I know said hers went away around 16 weeks.  Another friend of mine had 3 kids, and the nausea lasted for the entire pregnancy all 3 times.  And yet another friend with 3 kids had 2 pregnancies with no nausea at all, and one where she was sick the entire time.  The ladies who were sick the entire time said Zofran was a lifesaver.  If you haven't gotten any yet, I'd ask your doc about it.  Good luck!

  • If it makes you feel any better, I'm at 14 weeks and I still throw up a fair amount. Usually in the evening...

I found a few things helpful, if you want to try them (everyone's different, though):

    Seabands
    Zofran

    Pineapple and Mango

    Bagels toasted with coconut butter

Good luck. Maybe it will get better after a couple more weeks. I've heard from a lot of women that they stopped after 14-16 weeks.

  • With my first I was sick until the end of the 2nd trimester. I would have been utterly miserable without Zofran.

  • I am still on Zofran for nausea and am nearly 27 weeks.  I am hoping for it to go away in the 3rd tri.  I am at least having 1 or 2 good days a week now and it is not as bad as it was.  I "peaked" from 9-15 weeks.

  • Sorry to hear you are not feeling so hot.  I had morning sickness until 22 weeks with this pregnancy.  I wouldn't have made it without Zofran.

  • I was all day sick until maybe 15 or 17 weeks.  At 13 weeks, I was also fearful that it was going to last the entire pregnancy but luckily it did go away eventually.  Hang in there.

  • Hello.  I am just now 12 weeks and I am so hoping that the 13 week blessing comes my way.  With my last pregnancy I got sick in the morning and then shortly after I would be fine, this lasted until week 13.  Once I hit week 13 it was like magic and it was gone.

With this pregnancy I have been sick/nauseated 24/7.  I too am afraid it is never going to end.

Are you taking anything?  Do you get sick a lot?  Have you talked to your doctor?

I am on a Zofran pump, Promithazine, B6, Unisom, and a bland diet.  I  also have IV fluids.  I have yet to find a magic bullet that takes the general yuckiness away.  I totally share your fear of this never going away I will be sending wishful thoughts your way as I feel your pain.

    Hang in there.
