My firm is sponsoring a dinner tonight with a few other firms for a professional society in an industry that is not my area of expertise. No one else can go so my boss suggested I go and I cannot say no. I asked the organizers and turns out I am the only one from my firm going. So basically I am walking into a room of a few hundred people and I will not know anyone there. I'm getting really anxious about it. Any tips for me? I'm supposed to be there to network. My boss said I could go for 10 minutes and leave since I need to at least show up but I don't know how comfortable I will feel staying much longer.
Re: NBR - room full of strangers? Freaking out.
