vacations.
The midwife practice won't take me on until they figure out their schedule (i.e. who is going to be on vacation). I called when I was less than 4 weeks pregnant. How much sooner is even possible?
Now my doctor I had last time admitted she may be going away then. I'll just stick with her for a while, anyway, and if she is leaving I can hopefully switch to someone else in the office. It's just hard to switch when she's already the back-up for my actual doctor... who is going on mat leave.
It's hard to get good service for a holiday weekend.
Re: The problem with an early August due date....
I'm also being driven insane.
I called to be put on the waiting list when I first found out about pregnancy. Turned out I was only 3 weeks pregnant and have to wait for this next ultrasound to confirm my dates. They won't put me on the list before it.
The first midwife I contacted said she's limiting her summer births to spend time camping with family. But she did say that if I can't get anything else worked out she would work with me.
I am half tempted to say I'll deliver in a tent at a campground so she can kill two birds with one stone and because I actually like the idea of that. Haha!

I’m a modern man, a man for the millennium. Digital and smoke free. A diversified multi-cultural, post-modern deconstruction that is anatomically and ecologically incorrect. I’ve been up linked and downloaded, I’ve been inputted and outsourced, I know the upside of downsizing, I know the downside of upgrading. I’m a high-tech low-life. A cutting edge, state-of-the-art bi-coastal multi-tasker and I can give you a gigabyte in a nanosecond! I’m new wave, but I’m old school and my inner child is outward bound. I’m a hot-wired, heat seeking, warm-hearted cool customer, voice activated and bio-degradable. I interface with my database, my database is in cyberspace, so I’m interactive, I’m hyperactive and from time to time I’m radioactive.
I've been waiting to hear back for 3 weeks now. The demand for midwife care is far greater than the supply.
I mean, worst case scenario I do what tons of other women do and just deliver with an on-call doctor, but I really liked that MY doctor came to my birth last time. She was very patient and hands off.

Where are you from? Ontario has tons of midwives, but you are only allowed to go to the ones near your region.

Guh. That sounds amazing. Depending on where the Rainbow Gathering is this year I'm tempted to still go even though it's close to my due date. Having LO in nature sound so romantic.
