What kind of shoes are your LO's wearing lately? Are you getting them soft soled shoes, or traditional? Where are you buying shoes?
I am trying really hard to stick with the soft soled shoes, but most of them are unattractive. She has Robeez and I really don't like them and her feet are too small for the 3-6 month and her 6-12 month ones are HUGE! She looks silly in them. She pulls up and stands unassisted too much to have on just socks because she slides and it's too cool for just socks.
FTR, I think I posted something similar to this in the past but I still need some ideas!
Re: Shoes
Allison never wears shoes. She is in socks all day long and doesn't seem to get cold feet and we are in northern IL. I try to make sure they are "grippy" on the bottom but everything I'ver read and been told by our peditrician is that until they are walking pretty solidly shoes really aren't necessary and may actually hinder their food development. When it is really cold out and we have to be outside I cover her up with a blanket, on rare occasion I will stick some cute little (non-fuctional) boots on her just to keep the socks on but never when she is mobile.
She can get those suckers off in record time too!
Found this...
Not exactly a medical journal but a podiatrist's opinion...
"The purpose of shoes is to protect the feet from the environment, not to provide structural support. Hence a child will need shoes when it starts walking outside, but the more time spent barefoot, the better. Even socks that are too tight can damage the cartilage in babies? feet. Experts suggest babies learn to crawl and walk barefoot. In cold conditions or to protect feet against accidental bumps and scrapes, a soft-soled, loose fitting shoe made of natural materials are recommended. "
This for us as well. I agree they aren't very cute but they serve the purpose. The ones we have are black with a little bow. I like them better than some of the others I have seen.
We also have another pair of harder sole shoes from target that are brown with pink polka dots.
She doesn't wear shoes at home and I don't think they are restricting her mobility. I do see why it's important to give them plenty of shoe-less time to practice walking and cruising but I don't see the harm in them occasionally wearing shoes either.
Hayley only has 1 pair that fit her and they are size 3, hard soled.
I actually spent the day looking for shoes for her and most of them are hard soled after size 2. The 3's seem to fit her just right - and I'm anxious to buy her 3's when 4's might be better.
I was at the children's place and 4's were HUGE! Like monster shoes! And they didn't have any 3's with prices I was willing to pay.
Check out macy's - I know I found a cute pair of "sneakers" there with soft soles - but they were around $15 (almost got them but I just can't stand spending that kind of money on baby shoes). Children's Place also had soft soles in size 2 (which is 3-6 months for them). and they were having a 60% off sale - making them $4 I think.

My Colton...Growing up so fast!
And Coralee, his baby sister...On the way!
Thanks for the info ladies.
Kristin - We've been to Stride Rite, and like you said they are quite expensive.
She does have two pairs of koala kids soft rubber soled shoes but I was just looking for some other suggestions.
The Children's Place shoes are cute and soft soled, but they are so slippery! She has two pairs. Maybe she should learn how to skate on those soft shoes and then it won't matter...
I'm off to hunt for better grippy socks.
