Is this safe as a bassinet?

I registered for this a couple weeks ago:

https://www.amazon.com/GracoTravel-Lite-Crib-Stages-Notting/dp/B004IEBOVS/ref=sr_1_15?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1355247351&sr=1-15&keywords=graco+pack+n+play

I noticed someone purchased it so of course I started to worry about it.  I was going to use it as a bassinet, do you ladies see any concerns with doing that?  I am a FTM and really nervous about figuring out the proper sleeping arrangement.  I am not comfortable with co-sleeping in our situation, but I figured putting this next to the bed would be a similar experience.

Re: Is this safe as a bassinet?

  • I don't see why it wouldn't be.  My plan for this baby is to use a PNP bassinet too.

  • I think it is really cute (I might steal it off your registry!) and as long as there aren't any bumpers on the side that baby might roll into and not be able to breath, it looks perfectly safe to me.

  • I personally have a bassinet for my baby (for the room) but we have a PNP also for downstairs and traveling.

My 2 nephews however slept in pack n plays almost exclusively since my sister in law could not afford a crib.Anyways they never had any problems, just make sure all the same rules apply as a crib/bassinet (No blankets, etc, just a sheet) and you should be just fine!

Most pack n plays are all mesh on the sides so there is no real suffocation risk there.

The PNP's are also nice since they convert into the playpen later on, and will hold the baby much longer than a bassinet since they grow so fast.

  • Great! That makes me feel better! Thanks ladies :)
