2 month vaccines and screaming

DS got 3 shots today. He fell asleep for 3 hours and woke up screaming in pain. He's been falling asleep and waking up crying ever since. And ges hardly nursing. Waiting for doc to call back.

Did this happen to your LO? How long did it last? My heart is breaking for him and I am crying with him......

Ask your pediatrician about giving him a little bit of Tylenol. It made a world of difference for B. Sometimes the muscles around the injection site can be tender and the Tylenol takes the edge off and helps them sleep! Hang in there mama in a few days he will feel better.

DS was just really sleepy after his shots. He did cry later that night when I touched his leg in the bathtub, but was otherwise ok. I did give him Tylenol around the clock for the first 24 hours. It never hurts to call the pedi, maybe a cool washcloth over his thigh might help - I think an ice pack would be too cold.

This happened to DD. I think she was in pain from the shot. She would wake up and scream...she would eat enough to go back to sleep. She was fine the next day. She slept most of it off.

Kind of.

After her 2 month shots, DD fell asleep and woke up screaming, so we gave her the recommended amount of baby tylenol and she stopped about 10 minutes later and didn't scream any more after.

All of the subsequent shots have been easy since that one episode.

Yep...until i gave her tylenol. She also had vomiting and a fever. Baby Tylenol is my favorite invention.

Yes, this happened w/DD... She woke up a few hours after her appointment crying and with a high fever. The pedi told us to give her the baby tylenol and call back if the fever didn't break or if it went above a certain level. She slept a lot for the next 24 hours as I recall. GL mama!

My DS did not handle them well. He was literally awake for 2 days crying. Tylenol didn't work at all for us. But the Dr. suggested Advil and the good news is at the 4 month shots we gave him that and it worked wonders. Even better news was that I couldn't tell any difference in behavior after the 6 month shots.

So even if he is not handling it well, he may not act the same next time! I would call the doctor and ask if there is an alternative med if you are trying tylenol and it isn't working.

Thank you ladies! He had tylenol and about 45 minutes later was smiling at me Whew! That was awful. That scream wasn't like anything I'd heard before, and he is a crier! My DD, who's 2 1/2 , had the same thing happen - except she screamed longer!

Oh, I am so sorry

DD was pretty distraught after her 1 month shots, but slept off her 2 month shots pretty well. Hope the pediatrician calls soon
