If you've already had your LO, congratulations! I just wanted to check in with the mamas of outside babies and see how everyone is doing. I know some December babies have been here for a while and there are a bunch being born every day, yay! So, how is everyone holding up? How is your PP recovery going? How is baby eating and sleeping? Anything special you want to share?
Re: For fun: If your baby is here already....
Our LO was born 12/5. Recovery has been a breeze compared to 1. I am so thankful. She also sleeps well, although better during the day then at night. I feel well rested compared to last time, since I'm getting about 56 hours of sleep a night not contiguous though. I am starting to get the itch to get out of the house, although I'm still easily tired.
Hope everyone else is good!
I'm still pregnant and it's cool with me. Things are pretty slow on here now. I think there should be a weekly baby picture post like the bump posts. Seeing some cute baby pictures would help get me through the next couple of weeks.
I second this!
I agree! I may still be pregnant, but I love seeing all of the baby photos and reading about what to expect in the next few weeks.
Good idea! My baby is 7 weeks old, but my due date is actually tomorrow. He's been home for 4 weeks now and while it's been an adjustment, being home is a breeze compared to being in the NICU. My H is currently taking 4 weeks leave. He stayed at work while our baby was in the NICU and took off when Jack came home. I've been really lucky with that!
Newborns are TONS of work and little sleep, but totally worth it. I'm struggling with nursing (not producing enough so I have to supplement). I'm also having trouble figuring out how much he needs to eat. It seems like he's been eating non-stop lately but not gaining any weight. Anyway, we'll get it eventually! We're doing the best we can and that is good enough!
I was really afraid of recovery, although my PP recovery was pretty easy. My baby was only 4 lbs. 6oz. but apparently I have a very small pelvis (no one mentioned this before- if I go). I pushed for 40 min. and still had a 1st degree tear. I bled heavily for about 2 weeks and then spotted for about 4 weeks after that. I've just recently stopped wearing pantiliners. Last week I had my 6 week PP checkup. Things are still uncomfortable down there, though. Overall, I can't complain.
Good luck to the new mommas and the almost new mommas!
Things are going great here. Maren just fell right into the family sort of like she's always been with us. Two nights ago she actually slept through the night so that was exciting.
Let's do pics!
Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12
Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck. Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
This Cluttered Life
My twins were born on 11/21.
Things are going good overall. We are very tired but that is to be expected. No one said having 3 under 3 would be easy! We are nowhere near STTN... Maisy has done a 4 hour stretch here and there but her brother has not.
Recovery from my csection has been fine.
Recovery wise for myself has been so much easier this time! I am also enjoying spending time with DD1 and DH who is a SAHD.
Well my LO has been here for awhile (since September). His due date was last Wednesday the 5th. We have been home from the NICU going on three weeks now after a 55day stay.
As of his weight check last Friday, he was 6lbs, 10oz and 19 inches long. When he left the hospital he was 5lbs, 7 oz.
Even though he his 2 months old, I still feed him every three hours during the day but at times he is able to stretch out his feed at night to four hours. No STTN yet but once he hits 9-10lbs, we should be okay.
The last two weeks have been ROUGH because my beau is a truck driver & has been gone (he is the only one working now). I am running on fumes most of the day because of him getting up all the time during the night or even fighting his daytime naps (I hope I do get a Kureig for Christmas). And I am so glad my parents are coming to visit this weekend... Long nap coming for mommy :-)
My LO being a preemie, I have more restrictions than most but I have been taking it all in stride & actually enjoying the ride :-)
I am just so in love and she is so cute and I praise Jesus for her! My csection is slow healing as far as pain but I've lost a LOT of bloat/belly bc my appetite is no where near preggo appetite. And who has time to eat anyway?! Lol
Can't wait to see more baby pics!! Please post your birth stories and PICS!!!!
Happiest season of all!
'I loved you for a thousand years and I will love you for a thousand more'
We are doing great, if I dare tempt fate with that. Of course, we operate in 2-3 hour increments, but no big deal.
PP recovery was/is a breeze. I feel very lucky that I only had a small tear and my PP bleeding has been minimal.
Baby girl is eating very well, lol. She had already regained her birth weight by one week PP, and we'll see how much more she gained tomorrow at our 2 week appt.
Sleep, well, is short, as to be expected. It may be a bit rough now, but I know this is a very short time period in our lives, so I'm focusing on how lovely it is to have so many sweet baby snuggles and not the lack of sleep.
He lost 12 oz after birth so I was told to supplement with formula. My nipples are sore, cracked and bleeding. Because of the weight loss and the pain of bfing this time around, we are switching to formula. This baby is pretty unquenchable at times.
PP recovery is going better than with my first. Minimal bleeding and a small tear only. Every once in a while, I have some intense cramping, and I'm thankful to use a heating pad again. My feet are back to normal size and I've managed to fit into some pre preggy shirts. I dare not try my jeans for a few weeks.
I have been recovering pretty well, my pelvis is still very sore, but I am slowly getting off of my pain meds. LO is eating better, she was not getting enough from my breast so I pump and feed her from a bottle. If she wasnt having troubles with jaundice I probably would not have given her a bottle. She seems to have good days and bad days when it come to sleeping. Two nights ago she was up every hour, last night it was every two hours. But she def lets me know when she needs to eat, which it about every two hours. I am extremely happy I am not pregnant anymore! My body seems to be doing what it needs to do to get back to prepregnancy weight. After my doc give me clearance I will be starting the "insanity" work out with my husband! Ive already been trying to walk everyday, got to get my body back! Other than that I am in love with her, and I get compliments everywhere I go! Shes so darn cute!
Baby is doing well, today is her due date but she's 9 days old
Initially dropped from 7.14 to 7.3 at weight checks, but as of yesterday was back to 7.13 so we're happy about that - she's a fantastic eater. Cloth diapering is much easier than I expected and I'm thankful for that! Even DH is using them without issues. I gained 38 pounds during pregnancy and only have 15 more to drop before I'm back to my pre-pregnancy weight... I can't believe how fast it seems to be coming off, especially since I'm not really trying!
(I would add a picture, but I can't figure out how to do it on the macbook... blah)
