Mini Kick Questions

If I get DD one for Christmas, was thinking of getting a neutral color so that her little brother could share it. It's expensive and I figured she could use it this summer and they could share next...but is that not reasonable? When would he want to have one, too? how long would she use it?

He will be 2.5 this summer (and she will be 4.5). Do I take the plunge and get one for each? Or just let him do Big Wheels this year and get him one next year?

If I'm getting him his own down the line, then I would get her a pink one...but if they will share, then green or turquoise or something...so I kind of have to have a plan. Thanks!

  • Get one for each. Sharing a scooter is like sharing a bicycle and would involve a lot of fighting. I would actually get him one now, when I was in London I talked to a Mom and her 2yo was a master at that thing, he could even manage sleep hills. They are so freaking cool and you have me wanting to get them.

  • Thanks! I have a c-section scheduled for 12/12/12--I see both of your babies are 12/12 babies!

  • I would get them each one. My son got one last Christmas at just over 3years and took to it so fast. He still loves it a year later. And, so do any of his friends that try it out!
  • Wow, those are expensive, but cool.  Too bad they do not convert to a 2 wheel scooter.   Will your 4.5 year old be anywhere near ready for a two wheel scooter?  All the 4.5 to 5 year olds around here are done with the 3 wheeled scooters, but we are lucky to live on a quiet street so the kids around here do have a lot of practice.  If she is not ready I would buy one for each of them.  They will get a lot of use out of them.

  • I would get one for both.  My 4 year old got one for Christmas last year and LOVES it.  His newly 2 year old sister learned to use it this summer and so she is getting one for Christmas.  They fought like crazy over it and I am going to be happy to have 2 of them.

Honestly they do not need to convert, they even make the 3wheeler for big kids. I think Razors can be fun for tricks and all but the Kick is great as fun and transportation. I know there are a lot of 3wheel little kid beginner scooters that are stepping stools for a 2wheeler but these are not made like those. Oh, the only thing to watch is the mini kick has a lower weight so make sure you do not need the bigger one soon.

  • We just got my 3 year old a 3 wheeled Razor type scooter at Walmart for $30 and I wish I had gotten 2, one for my 20 month old because she tries so hard to use it too. We'll be getting her one for her 2nd birthday maybe in the spring.
