October 2011 Moms

According to news outlets...

Today is the most fertile day of the year. So, if that's your goal, get to it, ladies ;)

  • Yikes! Tonight is date night in our house. We might need to double bag it.

LOL. How do they figure that?

Apparently September 16 is the most popular birthdate, so doing the math 40 weeks backwards...

  • Interesting fact! It is our anniversary tonight and according to fertility friend I am likely to O around today or tomorrow.... Since we are probably waiting at least a few more months I'll have to be extra careful tonight!

See, I'm confused by this. In order to have a 9/16 baby, you would O on/around Christmas Eve. Are they not taking into account the fact that when they caculate a pregnancy, they go back to the LMP date, not O date?

    Ooh, good catch!

And, conversely, if you O'd today, you would be due on 9/4 .

  • Ha! DH finally got snipped yesterday, so no funny stuff happening here. He is bruised so badly it gives all new meaning to blue balls!

I guess I never thought about bruising. I thought it was supposed to be relatively painless. Maybe that's relative to pregnancy and childbirth, though. DH is getting snipped in 2013. Any advice?

He will need a jock support or tightie whities for after. And make sure you have lots of ice or bags of frozen peas. He took one Percocet last night after but he is fine today, he took some Advil. The boys are seriously swollen and bruised though. Not pretty!

  • Gah, I probably am ovulating. Team no glove, no love here.

Owcchh! I hope Mr. JG feels better soon and the rest of his recovery is painless. I heard people went back to work the next day as if it was nothing. From things I've heard I had the same thought as Fianschneid. I'm not telling DH because him getting snipped is in the talks.

He is going back to work his side job tomorrow. He is just uncomfortable sitting for a long time but he has his own handyman business as his second job so not much sitting for him. He said it was a pain that he had never felt before but it didn't last long and just the swelling and bruising to deal with.  I told him if I can recover from two c sections then he will be fine!

  • One of my best friend's birthday is 9/16, and her father's birthday is the same day :)

9/16 was my due date for my first pregnancy.

Even with the discrepancy stated above I would still say it's pretty popular!

  • Aidan was conceived on Dec 21. DH birthday. My due date was Sept 11. So....there's a bit of a discrepancy there.

Re blue balls, I remember a friend of my brother's got snipped after the birth of their kid. It was the height of summer and he must have had seriously swollen balls for a while. He walked so now legged, it was hilarious. Kept sitting on ice packs, too.

DH is gonna get fixed once we are done. I think he really wants to make sure we are done and also take some responsibility.
