Wrappers: Allergy to tussah silk?

I just bought a BNIB Cherry Blossoms with tussah silk- I've been eyeing this wrap for a year and a half and was/am SO excited to get it. I first tried it on without a shirt (yeah, I hadn't gotten dressed yet. lol) and my stomach got kind of blotchy. Then this evening I handwashed it in the bathtub and now my arms have raised red bumps and are burning. I will be so bummed if I can't wear this wrap. :( Has anyone else had any trouble with this silk? I'm hoping maybe it was just the "gum" or whatever that's present on silk before a wash, and it'll be okay post-wash. My only other allergy is mango peel, which results in scabs on my face (really nasty), so it's not like I have overly sensitive skin or something.

  • Silk is an allergen for some people.  Is there anything else you have with silk that you've reacted to in the past?

  • Not that I can remember, but I also don't own anything with silk. Stick out tongue Anyway, after its bath I'm not having a reaction to it so-crisis averted!
