Natural Birth

Home Birth + SUA?

Today at my anatomy scan, they found that the umbilical cord has one artery instead of two. The doctor said the heart, kidneys, and growth all look fine (which is the major concerns with SUA), but she's scheduling me for a fetal echo in a few weeks and follow up u/s with her every 6-8 weeks. I haven't spoken with the midwife yet (we haven't officially switched because we wanted to make sure we were staying in-state for the birth), but has anybody had any experience with this? Does this make me high risk? I plan on calling tomorrow to speak with her but I'm terrified that this will affect my natural, home birth plan.

  • Sorry, I don't have any experience, but just wanted to say I hope things continue to look good and good luck.

  • Thank you; I really appreciate it. I've spoken with the midwife and she said if the back-up doctor is willing and ok with it then I can still switch to them and have a home birth. So *fingers crossed*!
