Pregnant after a Loss

Left sided cramping

Ive been having some left sided pelvic pain for the last 2 days. Its intermittent and does not make me double over or anything. I'm just worried that its always the same side. Should I worry about eptopic or just tell my pgal brain to shut her mouth? I'm 4 wks and 3 days. Sorry if this seems crazy . I know none of you have Ute goggles but wanted to know if one sided pain was normal early on. I remember both sides had the twingy pain last time. Thanks.

Re: Left sided cramping

  • With my ectopic, the pain was sharp and didn't come on to about 5 + weeks.  Like I could tell there was something serious going on there.  That being said 1) they never saw anything on any U/S to confirm it's actual location and 2) it didn't rupture and I understand often the pain most women experience with ectopics relate to its rupturing.

I wouldn''t worry about it in any event. I'm about as far along as you and my body is aching in the most unappreciated parts.  When I spoke to the nurse a few days ago she said it's very common to experience pains around the abdomen and sides.  If you start getting sharp pains, like where you may be on the verge of doubling over in pain, then call the doctor.

  • Thanks brockerin. I'm also thinking it may be constipation related too. Thanks for calming me down. Ill keep an eye on it.

  • 99% of the cramps and twinges I feel during this pregnancy have been on the right side. So I think some people just are more sensitive to one side.

With my ectopic the pain was weird, I still cannot really describe it. It wasn't a cramp. It was just pain. Like a pinch, dull and achy and burning at first but very mild. Over just a few hours it became the most intense pain I've ever felt. But it was nothing like the normal cramps I felt in any of my other pregnancies. The location and the sensation were just off.

  • This is more like a pinch. Really mild though. I'm trying to stay positive. However if it is eptopic I want to avoid surgery by catching it early and saving the tube. How far were you Laura when you started having the intense pain?

It all happened in one day for me, mild pain that morning, tube ruptured by mid-afternoon. I was 4w6d. I've never heard of anyone having it happen that early before though, I was just a freak. I really do not think what you're feeling is ectopic. Waaaay too early!

I had the same thing for the first few weeks - pain on my left side, but it was intermittent and usually occurred when I was sleeping on that side.  Mine was constipation related and went away when I started taking Colace daily and was able to "keep things moving".

Like you, I initially was worried that it could be a sign of an ectopic pregnancy, but that was not the case for me.
