My LO just recently started crying out several times throughout the night.. she is still asleep but just crying. I don't know if it is nightmares? Has anyone else had this? what did you do? I feel so bad for her and it has been really difficult because I am jumping up every hour or two to check on her and am exhausted.
Re: night crying
This happens to us every night. He starts screaming (loudly) 4-5 times every night throughout the night. I used to run in and pick him up and calm him down because it sounded like he was terrified or in pain. Recently I decided to try to let him CIO and it has been so much better. I used to pick him up right away and try to soothe him,but I found out that I woke him up more and he got way more worked out. I leave him in bed and he never cries for more then a couple of minutes and then puts himself back to sleep. I watch the clock everytime it happens and if he cries longer then 5 min I go in to pat his back and turn on his music. Sometimes it looks like he is still sleeping through the screaming and other times he is 1/2 awake, but honestly the best thing I have done is to not pick him up each time. It's hard, but I honestly think it is easier on him because he is more likely to stay asleep. Our Ped said it was part of sleep cycles and not to worry. It usually happens around the same times every night. One thing we do make sure we do is to put him awake in the crib so he doesn't wake up cryign wondering how he got there.
Good luck! We are dealing with the same thing .
