Grant Marlin is here!

Well we were team green this time around and we were blessed with another little boy. Grant Marlin was born on his due date 12/6/12 at 2:12 pm. The plan had been for me to be induced that day, but I woke up that morning in labor. I checked into the hospital at 7 am and was 4 cm 50% effaced. I need antibiotics for GBS +, so after 2 hours of antibiotics the doctor came in and I was 5 cm and 75%.

Since the original plan had been to induce the doctor asked about giving me cytotec, but I asked to have my water broken first before being given any medicines to induce labor. Breaking my water was all I needed. They broke my water around 9:30 am and Grant was born at 2:12 pm. I am still a little fuzzy on all of the timing of things in the middle, but I am meeting with my doula tomorrow to talk about how it all went. My doula was amazing and I am so glad that I chose to have her be a part of my labor experience. I was able to have a med-free birth just like I was hoping for.

Recovery has been amazingly easy compared to DS #1. Grant is also eating like a champ and nursing is going very smoothly. I had actually been more nervous about nursing than I had been about labor. Big brother is doing very well at adjusting to his new role and is very helpful and gentle with the baby.
