Update to toddler beds

Well it has been quite a learning experience.  The boys are very good about being in their room without crying and trying to get out- heck why get out when running around the room playing with each other is so much fun.

As for the toddler proofing- the beds are anchored to the wall, the dresser is too- and the knobs are reversed so they can't open it, the closet doors are strapped close, we also have a door lock and baby gate on the door, along with the video monitor to look to see what they are doing.  They have a couple of books and their elmos, cookie monsters, and dogs.

Bedtime is 8pm- they go into the room and lay down, we kiss night and leave- they promptly start the party- and as I write this 3 hours later it is still going on but not as strong.

They eventually go to sleep and sleep until 9am, naps are not happening- but i think that will change when the newness wears off.

Overall this has not been a bad transition.

  • First, I'm impressed that they can play without incident for three hours! Also, I agree about the newness thing. Hopefully they'll fall back into a napping pattern soon. I know I cherish nap time!

  • Hooray! And thank goodness you batten down the hatches so to speak. We did similar anchoring but When A started playing with the ceiling lights and fan when he now reavhes te switches and found a new diversion we now also turn those off at the source so he can't turn it on and off and the room stays dark. Good luck with naps! I'm jealous they sleep 12 hours.
