And she's absolutely perfect. DH & I are just in awe. She was born on 12/6 @ 8:35 am 6 lbs/ 7 oz. Born 10 days before her due date. I went to L & D on 12/5 @ 1:30 am with contractions 4 - 6 minutes apart. The nurse checked me and I was only 1 CM dilated!!!! So, she called my doctor and we stayed for an additional hour so she could monitor me. She checked my cervix again and I was 2 CM dilated. They sent me home at that point. They gave me a demerol shot to help with the pain and it also gave me a great nap. All day on 12/5, I was having contractions. Around 10:30 pm that night, I lost my mp and there was a bloody show. We went back to L & D and I was 4 cm dilated, but contractions were erratic - like 10 minutes apart. They suggested I walk for an hour to get the contractions closer together. After walking for an hour, contractions started coming 4 minutes apart and I was 5 cm dilated. They admitted me and ordered my epidural and gave me something for the pain (I forgot what they gave me). It made me go to sleep. I woke back up around 4 am with intense pain - turns out my bag of waters broke while I was asleep. I was then 8 cm dilated. I continued to have contractions (thanks to the epidural - I didn't feel them) and finally got to 10 cm dilated. I pushed for about 1.5 hours. DH was a wonderful coach and was side by side with my dr. and the nurse. The pushing was sooo intense and so much harder than I ever expected. Nothing could have prepared me for it. Camille was born at 8:35 am. We were discharged on Friday. We are all doing very well; however, I am dealing with a very very bad case of hemorrhoids from all the pushing. It's really just about the worse, but I'm so on top of the world and happy that Camille is here. She's just perfect. I never thought I could love anyone this much.
Oh and we immediately had skin to skin contact and I was able to breastfeed. Camille had no problem latching on. Breastfeeding has been going great so far. My milk came in on yesterday. My boobs are HUGE!!!
Our stay at the hospital was wonderful - we had great nurses. A couple of things I did obsess about that in hindsight I wish I hadn't. 1- Newborn outfit - It was gray and cold here so we ended up putting a sleep sack over it anyway 2- Hospital Bag - I had everything on the checklist in the bag, but I didn't need 90% of it. My hospital provided everything even down to the non - skid socks.
Wishing you all the best of luck:-)

Congratulations!!! She's beautiful.
And to the pp who wondered if the hemorrhoids are from the epidural, no. Straining causes hemorrhoids, and you strain when you push, period. Not much to be done about it. Hope they feel better soon!
