We already knew it was a boy going into today, and everything from our previous amnio came back perfect after the Triple Screen scare, so I thought we were going to have an easy day. Guess again.
He was measuring a bit behind, I believe they said 11 days. The doctor came in after the sonographer did all of her measurements, which by the way looked great! It was his abdomen that seemed to be measuring small, so doc wanted to see if she could find anything why that could be. Turns out they found some calcifications on his liver, which could indicate a possible infection. So they drew my blood to test for CMV, which if he has, is pretty serious. Hopefully they can rule this out as anything, and my baby is just measuring a bit small with some spots on his liver.
I don't know how much more I can handle, but I am trying to keep positive right now. Any words of encouragement or similar stories to ease my mind?
Thanks ladies :-) xoxo

This little man is really putting you through the ringer! Hang in there mama! Remember that some babies are just smaller than average, and ultrasounds are just rough estimates... Plus, you are in the second trimester now... trying to estimate the baby's size/gestational age becomes less accurate the further along you are in your pregnancy (being 11 days off is still considered to be within the margin of error for second-Tri ultrasounds!)
i'm not sure about the calcification a on your LO's liver... I'd be encouraged that your amnio was normal, as this can sometimes be associated with trisomies. I hope the infectious screen comes back negative too, and this is all a lot to do about nothing!
hang in there, t&p's coming your way!
I'm sorry you are going through this worry! I only measured a few days behind and she said it was normal to measure up to two weeks behind, if that helps at all...Sending prayers that you don't have an infection.

I have been thinking of you since you posted about having the amnio. While I am glad to hear the results came back well from that, I am NOT happy to hear about this. You most definetly deserve a break and I am keeping you and LO in my thoughts and prayers that this is nothing serious.
Hang in there!
