Finally got some sleep last night... on my back

Yes, yes, yes... I know.  Terrible plan eh?  But, I angled my body and jammed a pillow under my belly so I wasn't completely on my back.  I usually (when not pregnant) sleep on my back with both arms up over my head.  I have NOT been sleeping as of late (as I am sure many of you can understand), and I woke up last night on my back... and went with it.  I was just so glad to be sleeping.  Whew.  We'll see how sleep goes tonight!  Good luck to all the sleepless Dec Moms!

  • I've definitely done that! I think it's important to get some sleep, even if it means not always being on your left side :)

  • my obgyn has told me to sleep on my back unless it makes me feel strangely. It never has and she's been fine with me continuing on. Sleeping on my side was causing all sorts of pain and numbness issues and causing me to get less sleep. I've just been using a big snoogle pillow to kind of prop up my sides and back a little bit so I'm not quite as flat.

I know eh?!  My hip gets numb and then I need to switch sides and it feels like I need to turn sides every hour or so... geesh.  And, I get the "jimmy legs" like crazy on my side.  Will give it another go tonight!

I am glad others have had this happen to them. I told my doctor that anytime I slept on my sides for too long my hip and legs would go numb and hurt. He kinda look at me like I was crazy and told me he never heard of that happening before. The snoogle pillow has not been helping me at all lately.

  • I've been sleeping on my back a little more too. My poor hips and back need an occasional break. It hasn't seemed to make me lightheaded or short of breath, so while I still try to change positions every time I wake up, I'm allowing it into the rotation.

  • yup, it happens to me too at almost exactly at 1 hr of being on my side, ever since the 2nd tri!

  • I've been doing this too.  Not completely on my back but kind of propped up with pillows behind me and under my belly.  It's the only way my back and hips don't kill me in the morning.

  • I somehow always end up on my back halfway through the night. I find that if I stay on my side the entire night my left shoulder and ear are numb by morning.

  • I've been loosing my breath when I sleep on my left side, so I have a pillow shoved underneath me on the left and right and roll back on it. I'm not totally on my back but not on my side really either.

But, I'm still not sleeping this way either!
