Where are you going? (Code: Ho! Ho!)
Where are you headed for the holidays? IL's? Your parents? Stay home?
We used to do IL's in the morning for brunch and opening our stockings and then head to my parents. This year we are doing dinner at IL's (since SO's aunt and uncle will be there), Christmas Day we are wearing jammies to IL's for cinnamon rolls and open our stockings, then back to our house for Gator's nap and getting showered/dressed, then heading to my parents for the rest of the day.
Re: Where are you going? (Code: Ho! Ho!)
Christmas Eve we go to my dad's, but that's during the day. Then we do church, then we just hang out as a family.
Christmas Day morning is just for the 4 of us, then we head out to Queens (NYC) and go to my Aunt's house for Christmas with my mom's side of the family. We've been doing this since I was a baby, so we try to keep it up. We have dinner there then come home that night so the kids can play with their new goodies the next day.
Its weird this year - because we moved.
the 23rd we will be down at my moms
24th- my dads
25th - our house, and then I think my ILs? My BIL and SIL just informed everyone that they are not coming, so - I am not sure really? But I kind of dont care. I think its too bad for the kids (they have 2 almost the same ages as my boys), but it is their decision.
The weekend before, we're going to visit MH's whole family out of state and doing Christmas that Saturday before. We'll come back Sunday night (Abby's bedtime).
Christmas Eve night, we'll go to a Chinese restaurant with my parents -- don't even ask, it's a long-standing tradition with my family to have Chinese on Christmas Eve, probably because we love it, and they are never crowded during the Christmas rush.
Anyways, Christmas day, we will have our own family stuff in the morning, then go to my parents' with my whole family and do the big family Christmas there.
We do Christmas Eve with dh's dads side. Christmas lunch with his mom. Dinner with my parents.
oh you can visit me and Chunstad! Lol
Oh dang! I love Port Townsend! However that is 4hrs from me and 2hrs from Chunstad.
We stay with DH's parents for the week. My family lives in the same city. It makes it easy to visit with everyone.
DH's family is small and casual. We do a lot of late breakfasts in our PJs. Then, we go to the more formal events with my family.
We always said when we had kids we would stay home so they could wake up in their own beds for the holidays. Now, we feel too guilty and want the extended family to see DD.
Burned by the Bear
Then we'll head to my parents for bfast, and then up to MIL's in VT for the rest of the day. We will sleep at MIL's.
We are celebration out of town with my family on the 22nd. On Christmas Eve & Christmas Day we are planning to just stay home and enjoy our little family. I'm pretty sure my mom will come down and stay over, and the IL's have been invited for Xmas dinner.
I'm really excited about our new Christmas tradition of staying in our home for the day. It is really important to us that we start our own family traditions! To the family members that get their panties in a wad...poo on you.
I'm exhausted just typing that out.

We alternate Christmas and thanksgiving every year between my family and my MIL. This is our Christmas with my MIL. Normally I don't mind because we stay in town and I can just drink, but this year she wanted to go away and I'm pregnant,, so we have to take a ferry on Christmas Eve morning and then back on Boxing Day which will basically be a traffic nightmare. Awesome when trying to organize naps etc. Not enthused.
We are then heading to Whistler for three nights to hang with my family starting the 28.
All our family is within the metro area. We do Christmas Eve at DH's aunt's house. In the past few years, it has changed from an evening dinner to canapes at 4pm and from pressies for everyone to draw names to give and get one present. Kind of a bummer, but oh well.
This year, we are hosting my family on Christmas Day. That should be fun. No really. No sarcasm intended there. I am planning to try some of the Minute to Win It games and a Find the Reindeer game to try to occupy the kiddos (since there will be 11 of them.) I can't wait!
