Likely a cancelled cycle

Didn't get good news today from my RE. I am not producing enough eggs to go forward with a successful retrieval/cycle. I am going in tomorrow to discuss what options I have. Really, I have no options. What typically happens after a cancelled cycle. I feel like my world has just caved in on me. Just lost at this point. Happy 30th Bday to me.

ive been on 150u of Follistim and 2 vials of menapur a night. This is day 8 for me. My nurse called and said there are just not enough eggs. I'll take my final shot tonight go into tomorrow to see the RE, but she made it clear that he felt it was in our best interest to stop this cycle. WTH.

I hate this for you! That doesn't sound like a huge dosage of Stims...have they increased your dose over time? I did 300iu Follistim and 1 vial Menopur. I know each case is different.....maybe you can ask about a dosage increase for a Hail Mary attempt??

This doesn't sound like a lot of stims to me. I started with 375 IU's of Follistim for 2 days, and then dropped down to 225 IU's. Added in 1/2 vial of Menopur when the Follistim dropped. Don't lose hope. There's probably a different medication combination that you can try. Good luck!

I'm guessing they'll give you the option to convert to an IUI if you have any follies deemed mature enough, or they'll just take you off the meds and wait for the cycle to end.

Hopefully they'll be able to tweak your meds for next time to ensure a more successful cycle. Don't lose hope, I've seen many girls have a cycle cancelled then go on to get KU with IVF #2!

I just saw this now, and I agree with PP that it seems like an awfully low dosage to end up with a cancelled cycle. How were your monitoring appts going leading up to this? I would make sure you ask your RE why they hadn't gradually increased your meds bc I'm guessing your monitoring appts weren't showing many follies. It just seems really odd.

At this point it's probably too late for this cycle since it's day 8 of stims and a dominant follie has probably taken over, but again I would just see why they hadn't up'ed your dosage to higher than 150 based your lack of response.

I have about 15 follicles, all are rather small except one that is 16.5. I have only had two monitoring appts during this time period. I'm so disappointed in all of this. I'm thinking maybe I should switch REs. My doses have never gone up. They have remained constant this whole time. My first monitoring appt I was told they follies looked small, but that was expected. I was told to come back in 5 days (today). Doesn't seem to me that I've had the same experience that most of you ladies have had this cycle. This makes me question whether or not I picked the right RE. UGH.

Ugh so sorry to hear that. It happened to me last cycle and it's the worst!! I would ask your RE about converting to and IUI. I only had one mature follicle but they triggered me and did and IUI. It felt a little pointless but I guess it was good that we still gave it a shot!

As far as monitoring, my REs office had me having blood work every 2-3 days and when my e2 numbers were low they upped my gonal f and Menopur. Were you having bloodwork done to check your e2 levels regularly? You could always ask about this.

So sorry for the bad news on your birthday. I was absolutely devastated when my first cycle canceled. You are on a very low dose, so be optimistic that with the right dose you will respond beautifully. Ask your RE a million questions and make sure you're 100% comfortable with him/her before moving on. When mine canceled, the amount i'd paid for the cycle was prorated and I had to pay for those appointments before starting my next one. Besides the cost, I could have just started up the next cycle. I ended up waiting for the next cycle after that. Again, I'm really sorry. I know how disappointing it is. But this is not the end, just a little hiccup along the way.

I'm so sorry...I understand your feelings with a cancelled cycle. As for what will happen, my doctor said once I got my AF I could start again. Don't wait as long as I did though, I thought it was normal 3.5 weeks later to have my period and they said no! I had to be put on Provera to bring on AF... Hoping you get better news next appointment and you don't have to worry about all of this! Hugs

Good luck at your appt with your RE. Hopefully you'll feel better after you discuss all of your concerns with them.

Although it really doesn't seem like you were monitored closely enough. I had bloodwork about every other day, and ultrasounds about every 3 days (they could be more frequent depending on bloodwork results) while I was on stims. Maybe they thought because you were 29 that your response didn't need to be monitored as closely? (but I was only 28 when going through my fresh cycle and I still started on 225 iu of Follistim, even though I usually have a great response). I don't know, but either way I would look into it and if they can't give you clear answer you may want to get a second opinion.
