I am full of questions today, lol.
So, we live in a Cape Cod style home with our bedroom, a bathroom and a smaller room that is the perfect size for a nursery upstairs. However, our home, being that it is 74 years old, does not heat/cool the upstairs well. We have a heater and a window AC in our bedroom and would have to do the same for the room across from us as well if we use it for the nursery.
We have a larger bedroom downstairs that gets heated/cooled much better with the central system. But, its downstairs...No matter which room we use, there will be a twin bed in there to sleep on.
I like the idea of having the nursery right across from us b/c then we don't neccesarily have to have them in our bedroom when we first bring them home and at least one of us can sleep. If we use the room downstairs, then I guess we will have to have the babies in our bedroom at first, but I still am not happy about having them on a different floor even later. DH, however, is concerned that using alternate heat/cooling (esp. AC) will effect their health.
What would you do in my situation? The reason why I ask now is b/c if we decide to put the nursery downstairs, we will have to switch the beds out from both and move everything from one room to the other and I won't be in much shape to help him the further along I get... Thanks!
Re: Nursery Question/Advice Needed (a little long)
Where will you be taking care of the babies the most? Example, feeding, diaper changes, tummy time, eventually playing, etc? The reason I ask is because this is what we had to consider.
We live in a 3 level/split level home. Our master and one bedroom are on the upper level and the 3rd bedroom is on the lower level (living room/kitchen on main entry level of house). At first, it seemed to make sense to have babies next to our room. However, with 3, we realized that the only thing we'd be doing in the nursery was sleeping and diaper changes just due to the space. There wouldn't be enough room to feed, let them hang out in bouncy seats/swings, or play with them. For this reason, we chose to have the nursery on the lower level right next to the family room. This allows for all baby related things to be on one level. We also have a twin bed in the nursery, which I'm guessing I'll be sleeping in a lot those first several weeks.
