Is my DD the only one not walking?

DD pulls herself up to standing and will walk if I hold both of her hands. But honestly, she just isn't interested in it. She can crawl pretty fast and I think walking "slows" her down so she just doesn't want to. She can even crawl and drag her toys around to where ever she wants them.

I am not really worried as I know she has the ability, just not the burning desire to do so. But, at the same time, it feels like everyone else's kid is walking by this age!

We are getting her a little toy that she can walk behind for Christmas...so maybe that will help a bit. She already has an "around we go" that she literally RUNS around. Yet, when you take her out of it...she just wants to crawl.

After 2 years of TTC, our daughter was born on Oct 31, 2011!

  • P isn't walking yet.  I'm not worried about it.  He will walk when he is ready.  Right now, crawling is easier and familiar to him, so that is how he prefers to get around.  DD will walk when she is ready.  I wouldn't start to worry for a few months.

  • L was the exact same way less than 2 weeks ago. She would only walk if you held her hands, and even then, she would prefer to crawl. She could take a few steps by herself (maybe 3 feet).. but that was it. Then literally, over one weekend, she started walking a lot better, and actually likes to do it! I was shocked (and so not ready for it haha)

She still can't stand up on her own, she needs to pull up on a couch or have someone's hand to help her up, but she is definitely walking now.

I guess this is my long winded version of saying, don't worry, it will happen quicker than you expect! :-)

  • P doesn't walk either. She pulls up and cruises; she'll even pull up and let go and stand on her own. However, she has no interest in walking. She doesn't even like it when I hold her hands for her to walk. I'm not worried yet; she'll get there soon enough.

  • DS is not walking. He takes a few steps here and there but is no where near walking yet.

  • N's not walking either.  He can squat slowly up and down and stand up without holding onto anything.  He's taken a few steps and is super sturdy standing, he even dances in place, without holding onto anything but he has no interest in walking.  He's been doing all of the above for a few weeks.  He also has 2 push walkers that go really fast and he's been running around the house with them since the summer but he has no interest in branching out on his own.  I'm not concerned, he's physically capable, he'll do it some day but a part of me has everything crossed that he learns by Christmas.  I have a few tactless family members who are sure to make it a big deal, which is going to make me explode.  Happy holidays!

This is exactly how DS is.  Cruising everywhere, standing independently but only taking a step or two at a time.  I'm not worried one bit.  It'll happen before we know it!
