I'm a first time mom but this is what I packed. I know it's a lot but since I'll be delivering in a special unit in the hospital that is a home like setting my midwife said I should just make sure I'm comfy.
For myself
-1 towel
-2 pairs of sweat pants
-2 XL light T-Shirts
-1 pack of cheap undies I got from walmart (in case I didn't like the hospital ones)
-4 pairs of fuzzy socks (that I don't mind getting dirty from walking around the hospital)
-1 hair brush and hair elastics
-1 toothbrush with a mini toothpaste
-1 mini shampoo
For baby
-2 kimono style shirts
-2 pairs of pants
-2 pairs of socks
-1 hat
-1 thick snowsuit
For hubby
He'll probably be going home and coming back so not too many things for him.
-1 pair of sweats
-1 T-Shirt
And of course I'm bringing my cell phone and camera with their chargers
I brought quite a lot, but the only things I actually used were socks, a robe, laptop, phone, charger, toiletries, towel, and a nursing bra. The only thing DD used was her going home outfit. DH only used a change of clothes and his toothbrush.
Bring whatever you feel you will need, but don't stress if you forget something. Hospitals provide just about everything imaginable.
You don't need any clothes- you will be in a hospital gown the whole time except when you're discharged (I suggest comfy pj's and a robe for the discharge).
You don't need any pads or anything, they will provide you with some. However, if you're super picky, you can bring your own.
Bring things that they can't provide (personal)- camera, video camera, chapstick, toothbrush, shampoo (mini bottles), hair ties... Maybe a sweatshirt for whoever is there overnight with you.
They really will give you everything else. GL
**I don't know if you are religious or sentimental, but I brought Holy Water and a rosary with me for LO1. Planning on doing it again this time. I also plan on bringing a pic of LO1 for me to concentrate on while in labor.
To add to the list, I always bring a note pad, pen, & a pack of Thank You cards. I had some really fabulous nurses/LCs the past two times, and wrote out little thank you cards before I left.
The OBs get all the love, but the nurses are the ones that really make the difference IMHO!
