Disney Vacation

We are talking about taking the kids to Disney in February.  I haven't been since I was DD's age.  I couldn't be more excited.  I feel like I am 9. Well this morning DD and I were watching a thing on Disney's Christmas decorations.  DD watched the whole thing with her eyes bulging out of her head. I said to her, "Do you want to go there?"  She jumped up and ran out of the room and came back with her suitcase and her Rapunzle dress. I take that as a yes?

Re: Disney Vacation

  • You will have so much fun!

    My suggestions:
    1. Buy the meal plan
    2. Stay on Disney property
    3. To see characters do the Character meals
    4. Make reservations now for sit down restaurants
    5. Bring an insulated jug for ice water
    6. Get up and open the parks then take a break mid-day

Feb is a great time to go it is not super busy!  We Took Oliver Feb 2002 he was the same age as your son.  He loved to hug all the characters and did great.

We have also gone in Sept.(09)  That was great too because it was not busy but hot enough to go enjoy the water parks and beaches.

    ETA:

We are Disney bound but not until 2016. Sad For Violet's 5th Birthday we are taking her and we are going to do take the older kids to Universal.

  • We just went to Disneyland for DS's 1st birthday and had a blast! I can't imagine how much more fun it will be when he's older and understands! We did the character breakfast on his birthday (since he loves Mickey) and we got on a TON of rides, which I was surprised about. We had 3 day park hopper passes and we stayed at a hotel about 20 mins away. IMO it was nice to stay away from all the crazyness but there was also other things that we wanted to do so being "in the middle" was a good option for us.

All of this. We went in August the last time we were there and it was sooooo freakin miserable hot. If you're going to Disney World I would recommend not staying at Animal Kingdom. The hotel is nice but it's IMO long bus ride and with small kids you can't just pop into the hotel for a nap or break and there aren't always seats on the bus plus you're dragging the stroller and kid crap. My favorite place to stay will always be the Polynesian and I definitely recommend doing the luau there.

  • We took Gator to Disneyland for her 1st birthday. We were there from opening to closing and she loved every minute of it!

  • We are leaving NYE and I can't wait! My whole family is going so its going to be a lot of fun with all the young kids together.

  • We're going in early January - I'm running the 1/2 marathon & DH is running the Goofy challenge (the 1/2 with me on Sat. & then the full on Sun) and while we're staying off property (MIL insisted she would take Em back to the hotel for naps) I'm really looking forward to this trip. I hope that she is old enough to really enjoy it.

Though I know we'll go back relatively soon since MIL lives close to there & loves going. I'm sure we'll go every few years.
