Scheduled for Weds. and while I know baby is totally "ready," I still feel kind of bad about rushing him/her. My other two were overdue so I feel like this one wouldn't have probably come for another week or so on his/her own.
39w2d, although my OB also would have been available at 39w6d.
I chose the earlier date because my mom and step-dad were flying in the weekend before (tickets were booked way before we knew that I'd have a c-section). Since DS was already estimated to be 9 lb 15 oz at 38w4d, I decided to choose the earlier date to give them more time to spend with DS. DS weighed 10 lb 6 oz, so the estimate was pretty accurate.
I was scheduled for 39w2d with DS but my water broke at 38w4d. I was really overdue with DD so I was shocked I went into labor early, but I guess DS was ready!
DD born 10/10/07 * DS born 11/25/11 * #3 due 3/9/2015
I was scheduled for a csection at 39 weeks but ended up bleeding and having it done at 38 weeks and 4 days. My lo came out just fine. This was my 3rd section and by far the one that hurt the most!!
My first was at 41 weeks 2 days. It was an unplanned c/s. I VBACed my second, but was told I wouldn't have to have a RCS until 41 weeks had I gone that route. I ended up VBACing at 41w1d. So, I just have long pregnancies!
If there is no reason to have the c/s that early, you can ask to push it back more. But you'd want to talk to your doctor about that.
I can relate to your feelings, for my son I had a natural birth at 41 weeks 6 days and feel like I'm somehow "cheating" this baby, but in the end a C-section is the safest option so I know we're doing the right thing.
39w2d. He didn't have any lung issues, but he did have jaundice which might have been due to being born "early". He was 7 lb 15 ounces, so hardly a tiny baby!
My daughter was born at 36w4d. It was not a planned cesarean, nor were the circumstances preceding labor entirely natural (doctors assume it was residual trauma/stress from a bad car accident 3 weeks prior causing my water to break prematurely). She was perfectly healthy, went to NICU only for a quick check-up, roomed in with me, and was discharged before I was. We had minor jaundice issues, but nursing and some sun therapy had it gone within the first week.

I was induced at 39w4d due to having an estimated over 8lb baby with no sign of dilation and only 45% effacement. My induction was incredibly unsucessful and it ended up in an emergency c-section. DS was 8lbs14oz so they estimated well.

37w and change. My water broke, and 8 hours later I hadn't had a single contraction and she was still firmly planted in my ribs with no indication she was coming down any time soon. I opted for a c/s over pitocin.

36 weeks after induction for pre e. LO had the cord wrapped around his neck. He was born healthy other than low blood sugar and a little jaundice, he only spent 1 extra day in the hospital to monitor his bilirubin.

Mine was scheduled for 2 days before due date, but water broke 3 days before the scheduled time. I waited about 18 hours and labored, but ultimately had the c-section, since I stopped progressing after several hours at 5 cm.
With my first 37 w 1 day after a failed induction at 37 weeks for pre-e.
This one is scheduled for 39w1d. 39w is the earliest they would schedule the c/s since I'm having a (thankfully!!) very uncomplicated pregnancy this time.
If something changes b/t now and then I could go early (Like if my BP starts to spike, they will just send me to the hospital and take him out because of my history).
