We got him a play kitchen and that will just be near the tree. I also bought him a set of play food that I will wrap, but everything else is tiny and in his stocking. We didn't go all out on presents this year. If he had other little things, I'd wrap them.
I don't really have anything to wrap for her. We are doing a shopping cart with a grocery bag of play food so that will be all set up under the tree. I will put a big bow on it though. Everything else will go in her stocking.
For her bday I will take the roller skates we got her out of the package and then put them in a gift bag for her to open. I want her to be able to enjoy her gifts right away and not have to worry about fumbling with packaging
When I was little- presents from my parents were wrapped and under the tree before Christmas. On Christmas Day, gifts that were from Santa were unwrapped and sitting near the tree with the stocking stuffed from Santa beside it. If we got a large gift from my parents that needed to be assembled before - like a bike, wagon, or a motorized car- then it was brought out last- they stashed it in their bedroom.
We also had rules- no one downstairs until everyone is awake (and no waking up my parents their room was off limits), no opening presents until everyone ate breakfast (Santa gifts ok and stocking also ok to go thru), you took turns opening gifts.
I just follow the same thing that my parents did since my DH's family didn't celebrate Christmas the typical American way and he lets me decide these things.
Our Santa gifts were never wrapped. It was fun coming down the stairs and being overwhelmed by the display of new toys Santa left behind. I'll probably do the same for Miles. Wrap mommy gifts, leave Santa's gifts out in the open with a stuffed stocking next to it all.

I'm going to wrap all gifts, even big ones or ones you assemble. As a kid I loved ripping open the wrapping paper and throwing it everywhere to get to the gift. It was fun lol.

I agree. Opening them was part of the fun. At this age, opening seems to be most of the fun. The only thing I won't wrap is her table chairs because it's too big.
We'll be wrapping. The only one we might not wrap will be his workbench, because of the size. We just found Sesame Street wrapping paper at Target, so we'll use that.
Growing up, my mom had a secret stash of Santa wrapping paper. It always had santas on it and it was used to wrap our presents from Santa. To this day I don't know where she hid it. I was nosy kid but I never stumbled across it in all my exploring.
My parents always wrapped Santa's presents in solid red paper. Their gifts were in patterned paper. We've continued this with Ava, even though she totally doesn't get it yet.
Last year we wrapped everything. I grew up with santa's gifts being wrapped. DH grew up with Santa gifts sitting by the tree unwrapped. I'm not sure what we will do for j. I like the red paper idea though

Santa presents were always wraped in a special paper, each of us with a different color. We would have 1 small gift wrapped in our stocking letting us know what paper was ours. That way my mom didn't have to write on the gifts.

This exactly! This is how it was done in my house and DH's house growing up so that's how we're doing it.

Re: Wrapping Xmas gifts for LO?
I plan on wrapping LO's gifts. But if it was like a kitchen or a bike or something big that needed assembled, I wouldn't wrap it..

I am wrapping and I am seriously the worst at it. I can't even begin to tell you how much tape I use and how many "patch jobs" are required.
I only wrap for kids because I know for them the anticipation is 1/2 the fun, adults get gift bags.
