I am sure it is possible as anything is, but is it possible for my LO to be allergic to something in Destin? He has had a wicked diaper rash going on 4 weeks now. Like not the normal diaper rash, swollen, welts, blisters, (not fun) we were using loads of Destin, then went to the doctor and she gave us a compound of 3 medicines to use and still not clearing up and he is miserable during the changings.
I decided to try some A&D ointment and stay away from Destin and after one full day of not using the Destin and only using the A&D, it looks sooo much better.
That is the only reaction he had so I don't know if he is allergic, would he have more reactions than just raw swollen bum or could that be the case?
Re: Is it possible...
I'm pretty convinced that both my kids are allergic (or at least sensitive) to any diaper rash product other than vasoline. I learned the hard way that plain old vasoline is the only thing that works for them and that everything else seems to irritate them more.
I'd use what works and stay away from the desitin.
Thanks ladies! I am definitely sticking with the A&D, since it seems to help!
Should I take him to the doctor and let her know I think his sensitivity might have been from the Destin or should I just wait for his next well visit (mid-January) to talk to her about it?
I, personally, would wait until his well visit in January unless something changes regarding the rash and it doesn't stay away.
absolutely! that stuff is very strong. the only thing we use for diaper cream is this, which is very simple https://www.cjsuniqueboutique.com/?p=327
be sure to give him lots of open air time and pat rather than wipe. poor guy
Thats why I was thinking of bringing it up. If there is an allergen I would definitely like to avoid using anything with it again. When we went to the pedi about 2 1/2 weeks ago, she checked it and said mentioned it could be yeast so she gave me the compounded cream, but thats not working either, so I'm wondering if maybe it holds this same "possible" allergen.
