Two Under 2

Dreft vs. All Free & Clear

#2 is coming in a few weeks. With #1 I washed all his stuff w/Dreft for maybe 6 month until I found out All Free & Clear is basically the same (and much cheaper) and I was able to put in some of his things w/ours.  Wondering if I can use All Free & Clear with #2 or if anyone knows of a reason why I should start with Dreft?

Re: Dreft vs. All Free & Clear

  • I'm unsure myself, but curious to see what others say! I'm still washing with dreft ATM, but sometimes DSs things get mixed with ours and washed with Tide.. He doesn't seem to have any issues.. Figured I will continue washing his stuff with dreft ntilI run out and then make the switch.. Maybe!  For new LO would love to not waste so much $$$ on dreft!  i Believe tide makes a baby sensitive version, too!

  • No need to use Dreft.  All Free & Clear is better than Dreft.  Dreft contains fragrance, which is more likely to irritate a baby's skin.

This. We use Tide Free and Gentle on all our clothes. I wouldn't ever use Dreft because of the added fragrance. I know it's marketed as "the" baby detergent, but there's really nothing good about it.

  • I have used several fragrance free brands for DD's clothes, never Dreft specifically which I understand is overpriced and still has a fragrance in it.  I've used Free & Clear and one by Seventh Generation.  We tend to go for the all natural, fragrance & dye free, least chemical laden options.

This! We never used Dreft, didn't like all the ingredients. We used All Free & Clear for the 1st year. Now we use a mixture of Arm & Hammer and homemade detergent.

  • We've always used All Free and Clear. The scent of Dreft is way to strong.

  • I used it even with my first. I prefer it because, to me, dreft is heavily scented.
  • IMO, Dreft doesnt clean all that great.

I just got Caldrea Sweet Pea..Its wonderful !! Not sure though how it actually does with getting tough poop stains..But I use baby oxy also.

  • We did the same thing...we used dreft then just switched to All F&C. When DD2 got here we just kept with the All F&C. She got a horrible rash. We now use the Target Up&Up brand of Baby Detergent and it works great. It's about $11 for a big jug.

  • We got Dreft as a gift but after that was out we just used whatever detergent we use on our clothes, regular ol' Tide. Since we have a front loader it doesn't take very much detergent and cleans her clothes beautifully.

  • I use any fragrance free laundry soap...usually All, Tide, or Arm and Hammer. Never used Dreft and both my girls are ok with it.
