NBR: Etiquette Question

When you receive birthday cards in the mail, do you call the person that sent it and thank them for them card?  The reason I am asking: my sister called me parents and "told" on me because I didn't thank her for sending a card. Now I am feeling rude....

Re: NBR: Etiquette Question

  • No, the next time I talk to them I mention that I got the card and that I appreciate it but, I do not call just to tell them thank you.

  • No, but I make sure that I send them a birthday card. Or, if I happen to be talking to them on the phone I will mention receiving the card.

It's your birthday, no one held a gun to your sister's head to send you a card. She sounds very immature and self-centered.?

  • that is silly- like others if it comes to mind next time i am on the phone i would say 'got your card, thanks' --- but thats it

  • Ok good.  I thought maybe I just totally missed something because she was going apeshite about it.  PS: Card was not solid gold or covered in chocolate.  Than I would have sent a thank-you card AND called to say thank you
  • Ditto the PPs. I might mention it when I next see them but they don't get a speciail thank you call.
  • Only if it has money in it :)

  • I guess it depends.  I'm a big thank you person.  I always send my grandparents thank you notes when they send me a card for a birthday or anniversary.  Anyone else I'll just say thanks via email or FB.
