More on Breathing Monitors: Snuza

I'm loving the idea of a Snuza for our girls.  The website clearly states that it can work with cloth diapers as well as cosleeping twins.

The question:  Snuza Go vs. Snuza Hero (formerly named Snuza Halo)?

It seems that the biggest difference is the Go has an adjustable alert time vs. a fixed alert time with the Hero.  And the Hero offers a vibration at 15 seconds then an audible alarm at 20 seconds.  The GO just audibly alarms at 15, 18, or 20 seconds.  The Hero is slightly more expensive too, but that doesn't really matter to me.

Do any of you have either of these, or have an opinion on Go vs. Hero?

Re: More on Breathing Monitors: Snuza

  • We went with the Go and were very happy with it.  Used it until about 8 months and he became too wiggly/sleeping on his belly and getting lots of false alarms (it would be very secure on his diaper when we put him down but would work it's way up and loose throughout the night even when we put a onesie on to kind of help keep it in place).  Decided on the Go based on price and we figured it there was a need for it to vibrate, we would just rather it alarm so we could go check out the situation ourselves.

  • We went with the Go as it's simpler, cheaper and we thought we might use it in a DC situation (which ended up being a moot point).  I didn't see the need for a vibration feature and the adjustable alert time is also not a big selling point.  It worked pretty well for us for the first 6 months or so and I was especially glad that we had it when DD started to learn to roll over.  We only had a few false alarms after the Snuza dislodged from the diaper. When she got too mobile, we stopped using it.  The sound is not super loud, and it gets muffled if the LO is a stomach sleeper, but DD slept next to our bed for 6 months, so it was easy enough to hear.  It also has a light that blinks with each breath.  You can even see it through the clothes/light swaddle so that was reassuring in itself.
