After birth, pajamas STM opinions

I can't seem to find any long, button front nightgowns, I'm finding two piece button top and pant PJ sets though.  I've read that gowns are more comfortable on the lady parts after labor, I do have to admit that I don't like nightgowns anyway, but what do you ladies think, gown or pants?

  • After having ds by csection all I wore was a robe. It helped avoid having anything near the csection scar and made breastfeeding easy. The robe I had tied together just like the hospital robe. A tie from one side would tuck under the otherside and tie inside then a normal robe tie wrapped around the outside so I didn't have to worry about slipping out :P

  • I ended up with a section and wore sweatpants and tank tops. I think the pants would be fine if you feel more comfortable.

  • I've had 2 vaginal births and find that I like pants. They help to hold my underwear, pad, etc. in place for those first couple weeks and that makes me feel more comforatable in general. I did sleep in the hospital gown the first night this time and both nights last time and just worried more about 'leaking' with the gown.

  • I wore yoga pants after the first night (changed into my own clothes once I took a shower) with DS and I am planning to wear yoga pants or pj pants again this time.

  • I went right for my maternity yoga pants and comfy shirt with a hoodie or my robe after my children were born and we were still in hosp.  I don't like the idea of long nighties.  Not comfy.  The nurses will need to periodically check you, but you can always shimmy out of your yoga pants for two seconds of a nurse check.

  • Do you mean in the hospital or at home?  With my first two I either wore the hospital gown or yoga pants pushed down at the hospital.  When I got home I did prefer a gown, but I like them anyway.  I had a HARD time finding a longer gown this year, but eventually found one at Target.
  • I wore a robe in the hospital. It was great for BFing and I didn't have to deal with pants. I could barely walk, DH had to help me get to the bathroom the first day and also had to lift my legs for me to get in the bed. Pants weren't an option for me personally.

  • I'm a FTM, but I ordered pj pants and a shirt that buttons all the way down from Eddie Bauer. My logic was that I'm ALWAYS cold and that I would want the heavy weight flannel. Plus I figured the button front top would be good for breast feeding. Might end up not being good, but...

  • I'm a FTM, but I got a pj set that has a button down top and pants. I also found a long zip up gown that's really soft and warm just incase I don't feel like wearing pants. It was really hard to find something that was long and either buttoned or zipped up. I eventually found this gown at Kohls.

I agree. I lived in hoodies in the hospital w/yoga pants. I'm not a nightgown type of gal, so in hospital I wore the gown w/yoga capris underneath & a hoodie over top.

  • I wore a robe or tank top and sweatpants - totally comfy!

  • I just wore nursing tanks and a robe.  I had a csection so no way I was wearing pants for the first few days.  I always just had the bed sheet over my lower half while in bed.

  • I've packed comfy/yoga pants, a tank and a hoodie...I'm planning on wearing the hospital gowns until I get a idea of how the bleeding situation is going. I would rather bleed on their stuff than my own.

I might throw in another pair of pants and shirt now that I'm thinking about it.

I love your siggy...really. When you post something I normally don't get around to reading it right away...I just stare at good old Jensen. Then I remember I'm supposed to be reading something. Big Smile

I bought a pair of pjs that have a button up top with pants at Walmart. They  had a TON of button up gowns, as well as zip up gowns.

  • I had buttonfront pjs with pants, but then I ended up wearing the top with a black stretchy jerseyknit cotton skirt. The pjs were pink, and I didn't want to get blood on the bottoms, plus I found it more comfortable to wear a skirt.
  • Last time while I was still in the hospital, I wore the hospital gowns, then when I got home I switched to lightweight pj capris (it was summer) and t-shirts.

I am thinking of at least bringing the lightweight pj pants and tshirts/nursing bra/nursing tanks this time, so that I can get dressed if I want.  I'm just not sure how well that will work at first because I am having a c-section and am not sure that the pants will be okay those first few days.

Personally, I hate gowns because they are too long and once you sit, they will get under your butt and you will be bleeding a lot those first few days.

Try Walmart.com for some gowns, though, they had a lot of options, they also had hospital gowns as well.
