Hi everyone!
I'm Tiffany and am pregnant with my fourth baby. My husband and I have decided to have a home birth this time around. After 3 hospital births, I am nervous, but I am using the next 8 months to educate and prepare myself for it.
I've had easy deliveries, thus far. My first two only lasting 6 hours and my 3rd only lasted 3 hours. I had medicated births, simply because I didn't know any better (I was 18 and 21 for the first two.) My mom had medicated births...it was what I just thought you did.
The day I went into labor with my 3rd baby, I had a dr's visit. After a vaginal check, I was told that I was 5 cm along. I was ecstatic since I was in no pain. My dr sent me over to the hospital where she hooked me up with an epidural, pitocin, and broke my water. The whole time I was thinking...why can't they just leave me alone? I'm already 5 cms. Let my body just do what its suppose to do.
It was because of that experience that I've thought of a natural birth. We've been trying to get pregnant now for 15 months, knowing that we don't have maternity coverage with our insurance policy (and we can't get it.) I've received estimates on my prenatal care and delivery without insurance. It wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be, but its still a big chunk of money. Its made our decision quite easy to have a home birth. I have emailed two home birth midwife practices to set up my first consultation.
I'm excited to be here. I'm hoping to find friends that can help me prepare for this big event. Thank you for reading all of this. I'll take any advice I can get.
Re: New to Natural Birth
VBAC's are illegal in my state (at home) and my MW has had 3 of her 5 children at home. She just 'happens' to have a friend who is a midwife over when she goes into labor.
