Babies: 6 - 9 Months

babies w/ 2 teeth

what are your LOs eating?  DS has 2 bottom teeth.  They gave him gram crackers at daycare and he does pretty well with them, we break them into 4s so he can gum them and they basically dissolve in his mouth.  I've tried puffs, he does ok with them when he can get them in his mouth, other than that it's just purees, any ideas on anything else I can try?

  • My daughter adores the yogurt melts, try those. Cut up fruit in tiny pieces (I stick to the mushier varieties).

  • My baby has two teeth and I pretty much feed her the same things I fed my older daughter at that age, who didn't have any teeth until much later. I don't think those teeth make much difference one way or another because they use their gums at the back of their mouth to break up most food....

Some of DD2's favourite foods are peaches, peas, broccoli, salmon, scrambled eggs, frozen blueberries, pasta, beets, and rice puff cereal. We still do purees occasionally and I breast feed her 4-5 times a day as well.

  • We do banana pieces, rice, pasta, cheese, homemade bread, broccoli pieces, Cheerios ... etc.

  • For finger foods we give DS bits of whatever we are eating. As long as it's soft and not spicy or salty or anything...he enjoys it. We also do any fruit or veggie cooked soft and cut into chunks (broccoli, cauliflower, apples, banana, sweet potato, carrots, etc) As for store-bought finger foods he likes yogurt melts (although I probably won't buy these again because they have a lot of sugar), mum mums, puffs, freeze dried fruit, and happy babies brand flavored rice cakes. We have also given him bread/toast and non-salty crackers when in a pinch.
