Chest cold :/

I've made it through this whole pregnancy without getting sick. And my husband had a bad cold at least twice in the last 8 months but I was able to avoid catching it...now at 38 1/2 weeks pregnant I catch a freaking icky cold. And with me no cold is "just a cold". I have asthma and it ALWAYS goes to my chest.
I woke up yesterday and my throat and chest felt dry and weird. Had a feeling it was coming. Started an annoying dry cough yesterday and today I feel like I've been run over. I'm so tired and stuffy and with my throat and chest feeling like this i just want to crawl in bed.
BUT...I can't. I have to work. I got here at 10 and still have 8 hours to go :

Anything you recommend? The cough isn't that bad yet today. Just the run down feeling, stuffy nose and chest and throat annoyance.

  • Oh and I'd like to add a little btch and moan....two men i work work have come to work sicker than a dog...neither of them HAD to be here when they were and it pissed the hell out if me that they were here coughing up a lung all over our small office. One even had the audacity to use MY desk on my day off. And I truely mean it when I say they didn't have to be here.

    And all we have is that Lysol spray. Not sure which is worse for me, the cold or the aerosol of chemicals.

  • I had a coworker who came to work sick for a week and a half... His ex wife is a pharmacist, which apparently qualifies him to diagnose himself, take OTC meds, and neither stay home or see a dr. When I got it, I was ticked.

    Anyway, OTC meds became my friend... Tylenol, Sudafed, Mucanex. GL.

    People can be so annoying can't they!? Lol I just want to smack people sometimes. Funny all three people we're talking about are men....;

    I have Tylenol. I tried taking it for a migraine, a headache and yesterday when I threw my back out. In no instance did it work for me. I'm like immune to the crap lol
    I will try the sudafed though.
    Thanks!

  • I had a NASTY cold this last week. I used Tylenol for the achiness, which surprisingly helped. Tylenol normally does NOTHING for me. I drank lots of warm liquids to soothe my throat, water to thin out the mucus, and ate soft or clear foods scrambled eggs, jello, soup etc. Warm baths and a humidifier helped as well.

    I can't recommend any OTC cold meds because I try to avoid them unless I'm really desperate.

  • I feel you...I'm 37 weeks today and in college full time.  It's cold/flu season and winter just hit hard here in North Dakota.  So many students have been sick and instead of using one of the 12 skips we get for our class they are stupid enough to come to class sick as a dog... I was doing so well not being sick outside of one little situation back in the fall.  And now I've got this horrible head/chest cold.  As far as I know there isn't much we can take...at least nothing my dr will let me take.  I just try to take baths a lot and eat mostly liquid foods or soft foods like mac n cheese with hot dogs lol

  • Thanks ladies. I came home from work a couple hours early and took a 45 min nap but still feel crummy. Just not so tired. Sucking on a cough drop now...tea has been nice. I hope it passes soon.
