  This is not changing my wants for it. It is terrible that children have died but if they were used properly it probably would of never happened. Same as the bumbo seat, yes they probably should of had safety belts in the beginning but the bumbo seat is not meant to be left on the kitchen counter with a baby unattended. Unfortunately, the company says they closed due to Hurricane Sandy so I may not even get one since they are going fast in the stores that are selling them.

  Our nap nanny was such a lifesaver with DD I will use it again with our next kiddo. I did always use it on the ground though like the directions say so we didn't have misuse issues.

  The article sites that children were able to fall out of the recliner despite the use of the harness, so I'd say it's a valid concern.  The government is taking the company to court because they have been uncooperative with the recall order.

  The sad thing is that children's lives were lost because their parents were morons. Not because of the Nap Nanny, which is still one of the greatest products imo. I just read on FB a good point where someone said they wouldn't put a bassinet, a bouncer seat or a jumperoo in their kids crib so why in the world did people decide to put a Nap Nanny in? Then they blame it on other people and ruin a company's future and the jobs of the people who worked there. The government is just feeding into the growing problem of American's not taking responsibility for their own behavior. Just sue. Eye roll.

  I've been waiting for this recall.  I knew it was just a matter of time.

  There are too many idiots out there for this to be a legit product on store shelves.  It's more about protecting innocent babies with moron parents who don't know how to properly use the product than anything else.

  Actually the company had been working with CPSC.  All the current warning labels were designed with CPSC and got their approval.  And the changes from the first two models to the current one were done in response to CPSC concerns (and again CPSC signed off on what the Nap Nanny people did).  The CPSC changed it's mind after another child died (which is terrible) because the parents were idiots- using it in a crib, without a cover, not strapped in and with loose blankets in the crib.   I have a feeling in time this will be the latest Bumbo/crib bumper kind of situation.
