TTC after years of BC!

I used Birth Control for about 7 years. Mostly the pill but for one year the Nuva Ring.

We got married October 6 2012, and we have been TTC since. I know that even women who don't use contraceptives it can take a little while to conceive.  I am just looking for some insight on about how long it took other women who were on BC for many years to conceive after stopping.

Re: TTC after years of BC!

  • Everyone is different and you've only been TTC 2 months, which is nothing.

Take the tutorials on fertilityfriend.com to learn how your body works and when you are ovulating.

Duration of use of hormonal birth control (for the most part) has very little impact on how long it will take you to conceive.

Six years of infertility and loss, four IUIs, one IVF and one very awesome little boy born via med-free birth 10.24.13.

  • 4-5 months of being off the pill before TTC. Then 3 cycles to get pregnant with DS. I also started charting as soon as I stopped the pill.

1 month of being off the pill before TTC. I am in the 4th cycle of TTC #2. I have been charting as well this time around.

My charts are way less consistent when we tried 4 years ago. I am also pushing 35 as well.

    PAIF/SAIF Welcome!

  • Went of the pill in September and got my BFP 2 cycles later.   I was charting, using OPK, etc... so i was actively trying to get pregnant.    I'm still surprised (yet grateful) it happened quick for me.

As others have said, everyone is different.  Many people go of the pill and their bodies don't ovulate right away or they have crazy cycles.     I had asked my doctor about going off early and he said not to, unless I wanted to get pregnant then (I didn't b/c we were going to Paris).   He didn't say give it 2-3 months to let your system clear out or anything...he actually said many women are very fertile right when going off and there is an increased chance for twins.  That's why you should wait to go off when you are truly ready. I have not looked further into those statements for proof or anything, just telling you what he said.

  • TTC the first go-round: went off BC a month before the April '08 wedding.  TTCed starting around that summer.  Nothing for a long time.  C/P at one point... M/C at another point.  Blah, blah, blah... never had a baby.  Divorced.

Remarried in February of this year.  Went off BC in July because it was making me sick.  Used condoms religiously because we wanted to wait another year to even try to get PG.  Got my pregnant in 3 months.

Everyone is different.  Not sure why my body never got pregnant the first time around when literally no protection was being used and now decides it wants to get pregnant even with protection.

I’ve been up linked and downloaded, I’ve been inputted and outsourced, I know the upside of downsizing, I know the downside of upgrading. I’m a high-tech low-life. A cutting edge, state-of-the-art bi-coastal multi-tasker and I can give you a gigabyte in a nanosecond! I’m new wave, but I’m old school and my inner child is outward bound. I’m a hot-wired, heat seeking, warm-hearted cool customer, voice activated and bio-degradable. I interface with my database, my database is in cyberspace, so I’m interactive, I’m hyperactive and from time to time I’m radioactive.

  • I was on BC for 10 years and conceived on my first cycle off BC. It doesn't impact anything.
